6 Panels installed, connected and all generating – all before morning tea break! Not bad going.

These panels form part of an uninterruptible power supply (UPS). It’s a high-traffic site so critical operations need to run at all times.

Panels are mounted on flat roof mounting system (to hold tight in coastal winds), and linked to batteries managed by networked Gateways. This means multiple locations can enjoy a seamless switchover to battery backup when (not if!) the grid fails.

Agricultural buildings are just built for solar - this wide South-facing roof will be connected with neighbouring buildings for a cheeky 42kW generating power, directly fueling the busy farm down below.

So much for a shiny new installation photo! These panels had only just landed when bad weather left them coated with dust.

Annoying, but it’s a useful reminder that basic maintenance helps your panels work at full efficiency.

Thanks to today’s technology, you can mostly ‘fit and forget’ your solar panels. But if where you live is dry and dusty then it’s worth cleaning the surface glass a couple of times a year.

Don’t forget:
• Just use cold water! Avoid abrasive cloths and harsh chemicals at all times.
• Avoid stepping on the panels – they are glass after all.
• Be sensible – consider asking a professional qualified for working at height.

Views like this are to die for, but not so much fun when you have no power.

Remote locations like this can be hit hard by winter storms. This home endured a 3-day power cut after Storm Darragh last year.

So we're getting this property winter-ready with a combination of 13.76kW DAS solar panels, 18kW battery storage and Gateway to provide seamless backup power next time the grid lets them down.

New roof. New solar panels.

Roof works and new extensions are the perfect time for a solar installation because you can integrate the panels into the roof. These integrated 500W all-black panels give an old stone property a much-needed energy upgrade without affecting the character of the building itself.

Hard to believe this is a domestic fuse board!

But yes, this beast is for a 3-phase domestic new build with circuits for air conditioning and car charging, along with sub mains to further 3-phase distribution boards on other floors. The sort of thing we’d usually see on a commercial installation.

So, unusual, but well within our comfort zone 😊

(And no, we won’t leave it like this – we’re not animals!)

Economy 7 tariffs are being phased out.

On 30th June, the Government started its phased switch-off of the Radio Teleswitch Service (RTS). Without it, your Economy 7 tariff will no longer work.

OK, so it’s July and we’re in the middle of a heatwave but if you still have an RTS meter, you will experience problems when temperatures fall.

So what do you need to do now?

Just hang tight. No need to panic. No need to change your heaters. Just make sure you take action when your energy supplier gets in touch. With a smart meter, most energy suppliers offer similar tariffs that will give you off-peak periods for heating your home.

Before and After.

Here, a customer called on us to solve a problem with the Calorex machine that controls the temperature and humidity in their pool building. Solution: a replacement PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and a few adjustments to the wiring loom. Obvs.
