Believe it or not… this was only meant to be a few shrubs! 😅🌳

Planted over 30 years ago, they’d certainly made themselves at home! After years of growth and a little bit of neglect, the time had finally come to rip them out and give the side garden a fresh start. 💪🌿

With a helping hand from our friends at ADS Garden Maintenance, we got to work removing the shrubs right down to the roots, rather than simply cutting them back and leaving the problem for another day.

Once everything was out and the waste cleared away, we were left with a completely blank canvas — and what a difference it has made! 🤩

The customer can now decide whether to create a new, much smaller border or return the whole area back to lawn. Whichever way they decide to go, I’m sure the DK boys will be back to finish the transformation! 😄🌱

**Another tree job completed!** 🌳🪚

Following a recent tree survey, we were contacted by Pelton Parish Council to carry out a number of recommended works across the area.

One of those jobs involved safely dismantling this Ash tree and grinding out the remaining stump, leaving the area clear and tidy 🌿💪

Nothing going to waste either! ♻️ A local resident took the logs to burn on their fire🔥🪵, while the woodchip was taken to Noo Noo’s 🌱

A little upgrade for a returning customer 🏡✨

After turfing the back garden last year, we left an area which the customer finished with gravel.

This year, they decided to break the gravel up with some new paving, giving the area a smarter finish and making those autumn leaves much easier to clear! 🍂🧹😄

A small change that's made a big difference to the look and practicality of the garden 👌🌿

Now that’s what you call a bench! 😅🪵

After turfing the garden, creating a gravel driveway and adding a new patio last year, it was time for the next improvement!

The old wall in front of the boundary fence wasn’t the prettiest thing to look at, so rather than simply covering it up, we put the space to good use and built a bespoke timber bench running almost the full length of the garden 💪

Built using chunky 9x2 timber joists, this thing could probably seat the full street! 😂🪑

What a difference it’s made — hiding the old wall while creating loads of extra seating and giving the garden a much smarter finished look 👌✨

YES… WE BUILT THIS FOR FREE! 😮🏡🪵

Well, the labour was completely FREE — and here’s why… 💚

Lesley from St Johns Hall Meadowfield asked us, “What size summer house could we buy for a ££££ ?”

Our answer? Don’t buy one… we’ll build you one instead! 😄💪

We wanted to make their budget stretch as far as physically possible, so every penny of the budget went towards materials, while DK Horticulture donated all of our time and labour completely free of charge.

And the result? A whopping 14ft x 7ft bespoke summer house, complete with three 3ft x 4ft laminated glass windows and fully lined internally with OSB 🤩🔨

By donating the labour, we were able to create something far bigger and better than the budget would normally allow, giving St John’s Hall a fantastic new space for the local community to enjoy for years to come. ❤️

Laminated glass supplied by B&R Glazing Co.Ltd. 🪟and all timber supplied by BTL Timber and Garden Buildings 🪵 👏

We’ve been proud to work with St John’s Hall for many years, so sometimes a job isn’t about making a profit — sometimes it’s simply nice to be able to give something back to the local community. 💚

And we think the finished result was definitely worth a few days of donated graft! 😅💪

Back helping once again! 🌿🏢

We were called in to give the grounds a tidy-up, including clearing weeds from the hard standings, cutting back branches getting a little too close to the buildings, and reducing overgrown shrubs ✂️🌳

Using our Westermann UK, we were able to give the hard standings a thorough sweep and get everything looking clean and tidy again 👌✨

All ready for the students returning in September 🎓🏡

The final boundary gets its makeover! 🪵✨

After replacing the other two fences, it was finally time to tackle the last side now the birds have flown their nests 🐦🌿

The old boundary had definitely seen better days and was completely mangled with ivy 😅 Out it came, and in went a brand-new 4ft 6" fence, finished with capping for a smart, tidy finish 👌

All waste was taken away to be recycled ♻️ and all timber supplied by BTL Timber and Garden Buildings 💪

That’s all three sides complete and the garden looking much smarter! 🏡✨

🌿 Opening up St Johns Hall Meadowfield 🌿

As part of our ongoing maintenance at St John’s Hall, Meadowfield, we removed a number of overgrown shrubs to open up the area, improving visibility and creating a brighter, more welcoming space 👍

Once the shrubs had been removed, the area was grass seeded, allowing it to blend in with the surrounding lawn as it establishes 🌱☀️

A simple change that’s made a big difference to the appearance and usability of the site.

🌳 A teamwork job at Langley Moor Primary and Nursery School! 🌳

Last year we pollarded a large poplar tree at Langley Moor Primary School, but we always planned to reduce it further when time allowed.

With our workload being as busy as ever, we simply didn't have the availability to get back and finish the job ourselves. Rather than keeping the school waiting, our friends at Arborline Tree Services Ltd stepped in to help.

They safely felled the remaining stem, removed all the timber and waste from site, and completed the job to a high standard. 💪

"Andrew, can you supply a new fence all the way around my garden?" 🪵

That was the message I received... and of course, the answer was yes! 💪

Over just 2 days, the DK boys ripped out the old fence (or what was left standing! 😅) and installed a brand-new 6ft closeboard fence with gravel boards and capping, giving the property a fresh, secure finish.
📏 62 metres of fencing installed!

The transformation speaks for itself and has completely enclosed the garden with a smart, long-lasting fence that'll stand the test of time.

A big thank you to Timber and Garden Buildings for supplying the materials, and to Nathan for personally delivering everything and making sure we had what we needed to get the job done! 👏🚛

As always, all old fencing was removed and disposed of responsibly. ♻️
