Rainton Construction has delivered a specialist concrete dismantling pad for ABLE UK at Seaton Port. The dismantling pad will safely support the dismantling of large offshore structures.

The reinforced concrete slab spans 15,200 m² and is 400 mm thick, with an integrated surface water drainage system.

A key achievement of the project was the retention and reuse of 1,463 tonnes of engineering fill material, with zero project waste sent to landfill.

The project highlights Rainton Construction's ability to deliver specialist infrastructure in marine environments.

🦅 Sometimes the best site photos are the ones you never planned for.

Whilst carrying out a drone survey at our QTS data centre project in Cambois, our drone operator noticed the camera being knocked about unexpectedly. It wasn't until the footage was reviewed later that we realised we'd captured this incredible split-second shot of what appears to be a Peregrine falcon flying directly past the camera.

Whether it was curiosity or simply a territorial fly-by, the chances of capturing the world's fastest bird at exactly the right moment are incredibly slim.

Safe to say we'll be keeping this photo!

With tomorrow marking World Mental Health Day, it's a timely reminder that conversations about mental health matter.

Speaking openly about mental health isn't always easy. Many of us worry about saying the wrong thing or aren't sure how to start the conversation. But by listening to the lived experiences of others, we can increase understanding, challenge stigma and help create environments where people feel supported.

At MGL Group, we're committed to supporting the wellbeing of our people throughout the year. This morning we held our annual Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee Morning.

The team had a fantastic morning enjoying a plentiful variety of sweet and savory treats all to raise money for Macmillan's efforts to support people living with cancer.

Thanks to those who organised the morning and to those who donated their time, money and baking skills into providing yet another memorable coffee morning!

Colleagues from MGL Group, Wates Group, Turner & Townsend, Northumbria University, and SES Engineering Services swapped hard hats for litter pickers as they came together to support World Clean Up Day 2026.

The organisations, currently working together on the redevelopment of Northumbria University's Claude Gibb and Lipman buildings, joined forces to help keep Newcastle city centre clean and tidy.

Battling the elements on a typical September day in the North East, volunteers collected litter from across the campus and surrounding area as part of the global initiative, which has engaged more than 139 million people across 212 countries in the fight against waste and pollution.

MGL Demolition is delivering a project to create space for Northumbria University future redevelopment.

The works involve the demolition of two buildings on the University’s City Campus West and present technical challenges due to their close proximity to major roads, surrounding buildings and busy public areas.

Early stages have seen the installation of a fully encapsulated scaffold system, creating a controlled environment. With asbestos removal and soft strip works complete, structural demolition is now progressing using high-reach techniques.

The project will support the wider transformation of the City Campus West, helping to deliver modern, fit-for-purpose facilities.

MGL Group were delighted to sponsor Butterwick Hospice annual Golf Day at Ramside Hall last week.

The event was a fantastic success, bringing together 18 teams for a day of friendly competition in the September sunshine, all while raising vital funds for an incredible local charity.

An impressive £12,000 was raised during the day, helping Butterwick Hospice continue its outstanding support for children and adults living with life-limiting illnesses.

We are proud to support such a worthy cause and contribute to the vital services Butterwick Hospice provides for individuals and families across our local communities.

Earlier this year, MGL Earthworks Operator Johnny Dane's quick actions helped trigger a life-saving RNLI rescue after he spotted an overturned canoe off the Northumberland coast.

Wanting to give something back, Paul Brown, who was rescued that day, and his family joined forces with Johnny to raise funds for the RNLI.

A sponsored walk from RNLI Newbiggin Lifeboat Station to Tynemouth later, with site staff and QTS providing generous donations, matched by MGL Foundation Trust to provide a final total that will go towards training, water safety education and keeping operations running.

We were delighted to hand over the donation and deepen our understanding of the vital work the RNLI does for those who need it most.
