EV charger installed in Dunoon! 🚗

Our customer can now charge their car at home, much faster than with a standard 3-pin plug. The charger also lets them schedule charging, so the car can charge overnight on a cheaper off-peak tariff and be ready to go in the morning.

What's included in a home charger install:

When did you last have your electrics checked? ⚡

Your consumer unit (or fuse box) is what keeps your home and family safe if something goes wrong. Plenty of homes are still running on old boards with no RCD protection, and these don't give the same protection against electric shock or fire as a modern unit.

Here's one we upgraded recently. The new board gives:

- RCBO protection on every circuit, so if there's a fault only that circuit trips and the rest of the house stays on
- A metal enclosure, as the current regulations require
- Clear labelling, so you know exactly what each circuit does
- Surge protection for your appliances and electronics

It's recommended that homeowners have an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) at least every 10 years, and every 5 years for rented properties. It's also worth doing one when you move into a new home.

Switch Electrical Services is expanding, and we’re looking for a Qualified Electrician and an Electrician’s Mate to join our team.

QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN

💷 £20–£24 per hour
💰 £41,600–£49,920 per year
⏰ 40 hours per week
🚐 Company vehicle provided

You’ll carry out domestic and light-commercial installations, rewires, consumer-unit upgrades, inspection and testing, fault finding, solar PV, batteries and EV chargers.

Applicants should be fully qualified, hold the current 18th Edition, have a full UK driving licence and be capable of working independently. Inspection and Testing qualifications are preferred.

ELECTRICIAN’S MATE

💷 £13–£16 per hour
💰 £27,040–£33,280 per year
⏰ 40 hours per week
🚐 Company vehicle provided

You’ll assist with electrical installations, first fixing, cable pulling, rewires, preparing materials and renewable-energy projects.

Previous electrical or site experience is preferred, but reliability, a good attitude and willingness to learn are equally important. A full UK driving licence is preferred.
