Little Trochry Farm is a new small scale vegetable farm based just outside Dunkeld - started in spring 2022!

Growing chemical free vegetables, with love to nature and the soil.

Our small but mighty team have been working super hard recently. Even with the mixed weather we have been harvesting more than this time last year. Iain has also taken on the role as w**d manager and wow is it tidy!

You can find all these gorgeous veggies in our farmstand and also at Aberfeldy Farmers Market this Sunday 10-2pm

Unfortunately we’ve also had some slight struggles - beetroot being eaten by rodents, cucumbers and aubergines looking a bit sad (hopefully they’ll perk up) and squash being battered by the wind just after planting! But there are more positives than bad and the majority of the veg is looking beautiful- a team favourite right now being the Florence fennel.

Come get your veggie fill this weekend, whether at the farmstand or the market, we’ve got loads for both!

It’s farmstand day tomorrow!

Our polytunnels are pumping out loads of amazing greens right now. Find them fresh in the farmstand tomorrow from 11am (and all weekend, we have so much!). Plus it’s our first market weekend - on Sunday we’ll be at Aberfeldy from 10am to 2pm with veg and some plants! We can’t wait to be back.

Come say hi and nourish your tummies with this nutrient dense food 🌱

Farmstand officially opening for the season! Next Friday, April 17th. It will be full and ready to rock from 11am - with our main top ups happening on Tuesdays and Fridays, for 11am (but keep a look out on socials for regular updates).

We’ll have all our Little Trochry nature friendly veg and pasture raised eggs, plus lots of our favourite Scottish products from last year, as well as some new things!

Expect to see **dairy jersey milk back! Plus , asparagus, berries( from May), , flour…

Plus this season we have plans to add some new things - including a freezer full of regenerative hogget and beef from our sisters farm

Everything you buy at the farmstand is Scottish and it’s truly amazing all the delicious things there are available!

We also have a new payment system so you can easily pay by card.

Watch this space for the grand opening farmstand tour - we can’t wait to get it all full again.

On that note… there’s actually eggs, mizuna and spring radishes in there this weekend (they surprised us and are ready sooner than expected) - go get them!

What’s been going on at the farm this month…

We’ve been planting new trees (over 1000!), attempted to prune existing fruit trees and fruit bushes, as well as mulching them. The tunnels are all prepped (and almost full) using our very exciting new BCS two wheeled tractor. We’ve sowed seeds in the prop shed - as well as directly into the tunnels with the jang seeder. This year we’re looking to be more efficient in what we do - so the BCS is hopefully going to play a big role in flipping beds, and we’re using the jang seeder a little more to save seeding in trays then transplanting - so far we’ve direct sown radishes, rocket, mizuna, baby kale and some mustard mixes. We’ve also napped in the sunshine, had a bonfire, played in wheelbarrows and put a fake heron in our pond to protect the frogspawn…

Spring is without a doubt my favourite season, I love the recharge of energy and excitement of what’s to come - we feel so lucky to be living and working on this gorgeous land 🌱

We’re very excited to welcome two team mates and open up the farmstand mid April (already open for eggs) - watch this space. We can’t wait to get some veggies to you again!

As we sowed our squash seeds back in the spring I wondered who would be ready first…

Turns out both the squash and our new friend liked the idea of being ready around the autumn equinox!

And what a fitting birthday for a farm girl - our little harvest baby is here!

Edie Birch Lamotte was born September 21st, right here on the farm at Little Trochry - and wow she’s by far the best squash I’ve ever grown!

She’ll be doing your farmstand tours from now on so keep your eyes peeled

Well this is exciting - we’ve got milk!! And it’s as good as it gets - from the wonderful **dairy at Tibbermore, just outside Perth. Their beautiful jersey cows are grass fed, with calf at foot. We are delighted to be able to sell this delicious, local coo juice. They’ve only just got started so please go support this amazing new farm.

The farmstand also has tonnes of eggs, salad, berries, summer tomatoes, autumn squash… all the good things. Hope you can check it out this weekend. Thank you as always for shopping with us and supporting wee farms.

Beautiful light and beautiful layers

It may feel a little early to say but the mornings are starting to smell like autumn - and the veggies are telling us so too. As the chillies finally ripen, we harvest the first leeks, squash and chicory. I don’t want to rush summer or todays sunshine but autumn is also nice and the light is magical.

The farmstand will be glorious and full tomorrow! And we’ll be at Aberfeldy Farmers Market this Sunday - so come see us or the farmstand for all your summer and autumnal veggies ❤️🌱

Open Day tomorrow, Saturday 30th, 10am to 3pm

Come see our market garden and learn how we grow veggies!

The farmstand has lots of veg today, plus we’ll have more veg for sale up at the veg field during the open day

There will be cakes! Plus tea and coffee

Farm tours at 10.30 and 1.30 - or just have a potter around yourself

Cars can be parked in the field next to the farmstand - then you can walk up through our orchard or native woodland to reach the tunnels. Accessible parking is up by the steadings

This is part of the Aberfeldy Open Gate Festival - please check out their programme for the week as there are so many amazing events on.

Wow wow wow we are so grateful to our volunteers this year!! And this past Wednesday was a great example of how wonderful they have been - we had 11 amazing helpers here and we got so much done! We cleared old courgette plants, harvested the last of the shallots, harvested over 250kg of potatoes, w**ded the chicory and the leeks, cleared old chard and parsley… and of course we are cake and had lots of lovely conversations. Although our volunteering sessions are slowing for the year, it’s definitely something we will continue to do next year - not only do we massively appreciate the help, we love the community it’s creating and having more people on the farm. Thank you to everyone whose been a part of it 🌱❤️
