At Axon Power & Control, we’ve been UL Listed Panel builders for a number of years. We often get queries from customers, machine builders and even on occasion some other integrators!! We have decided to help out and will be running a series of posts with some useful tips on the most common queries/issues we get. If you have any others that need answered, send us a message and our team will be happy to investigate or advise as best we can.

UL tip #1
The one is an easy one – buyer beware, UL + UL ≠ UL i.e. building a control panel with UL listed parts does not necessarily result in a UL listed outcome. This is a basic principle but the one that comes up most often. The UL listing program is a quarterly audited system that requires the panel builder to demonstrate compliance against UL508A not only in terms of parts used, but also for panel layouts, conductor sizing, wiring practice and many other aspects of panel design and build. It also has requirements in terms of traceability, calibration and labelling that are particularly stringent.

So, if someone is selling you a control panel destined for the North American market, check if they are on the ProductIQ website (https://lnkd.in/g6q96CnP) – it’s a free service that lists all the UL approved panel builders. We’re on there under file number E509435.

On 16th June, we were delighted to host Axon Power & Control's very first Lean Tour at our Dungannon headquarters through the Lean Cluster.

It was a fantastic opportunity to welcome businesses to share our lean journey and showcase the improvements we've made across our operations.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended. We greatly appreciate the positive feedback and kind comments we received throughout the day. It's rewarding to know that our experiences, successes and even the challenges we've faced resonated with others on their own lean journeys.

Most importantly, we'd like to recognise our incredible team. Thank you to every member of staff for the hard work, preparation, enthusiasm and openness you showed. Hosting our first Lean Tour would not have been possible without your willingness to share your experiences and demonstrate the culture of continuous improvement we've built together.

It's been a busy start to the summer here at Axon Power & Control! ☀️⚡

Our test area is full of control panels ready for testing before heading out to customers across a range of industries. It's great to see the workshop and test bays so busy, with another strong pipeline of projects underway.

The recent hot weather certainly hasn't slowed the team down. Despite the soaring temperatures, everyone has continued to deliver the high standards of quality, workmanship and commitment that Axon are known for. A visit from the ice cream man may have helped with this!

A huge thank you to our fantastic team for their hard work and dedication.

🔧 Continuous Improvement in Action 🔧

At Axon Power & Control, we're always looking for ways to improve efficiency, organisation and workplace standards.

Our latest workshop improvement project has seen the introduction of a dedicated tool station, providing a clear and organised home for frequently used tools. Complete with visual identification markers and shadowing, the new setup makes it easier to locate tools quickly, return them to the correct place and maintain high housekeeping standards.

Tomorrow, our Managing Director , alongside her brother, is preparing to take on the UK 3 Peaks Challenge, aiming to summit Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in under 24 hours.

Together, they are raising funds for two fantastic local charities that provide vital support to individuals and families across our community:

Both charities carry out life-changing work, offering support, hope and care when it is needed most.
