We are looking for people to join our telecommunications team, working on the Openreach network across both overhead and underground infrastructure.

The role will include:

- Installing, pulling and recovering telecommunications cables
- Rodding, roping and proving underground ducts
- Working safely in chambers and around telecommunications poles
- Assisting with overhead cable installation
- Identifying and reporting blockages, damage and network defects
- Completing photographs and job records accurately
- Maintaining BCUL’s high standards of safety and workmanship

Previous cabling experience is welcome but not essential, as full training will be provided. We are looking for reliable, hardworking people who are comfortable working outdoors, willing to learn and able to work effectively as part of a team.

Here's an example of a recent completed field drainage system installed by Border Civils and Utilities Ltd.

The geotextile membrane acts as a filter, allowing water to pass through easily, whilst preventing fine silt and clay from contaminating the drainage stone. Without it the system would gradually clog and lose its effectiveness.

Finished with 20mm clean drainage stone at the surface as per the customers request.

A recent project completed by the BCUL team.

This garden has undergone a complete transformation, replacing a dated combination of paving and gravel with a modern, low-maintenance tarmac driveway and patio solution.

The works included:

✔ Full excavation and preparation works
✔ Installation of drain and telecoms ducting
✔ New tarmac driveway installation
✔ Contemporary porcelain entrance patio

UG / OH Fibre Cablers – BT Network

Border Civils & Utilities Ltd are expanding and we are looking for experienced Underground / Overhead Cablers to join our growing telecoms division delivering works on the BT / Openreach Network.
We are looking for motivated individuals who take pride in delivering high-quality fibre installations and want to be part of a professional utilities contractor working across central and southern Scotland and Northern England.

Role Overview
You will be responsible for installing and maintaining fibre infrastructure on the BT / Openreach network including both underground and overhead routes.

Key Responsibilities
• Installation of fibre cable through existing and new duct infrastructure
• Overhead fibre cabling on pole routes
• Installation of CBTs and fibre joints where required
• Rod & rope / cable pulling operations
• Working safely within specifications and safety standards
• Completing job packs, photos, digital records & track sheets

Essential Requirements
• Experience working on the Openreach / BT network
• NRSWA Streetworks (Unit 2 minimum)
• SA002 Safety Around Underground Structures
• SA001 Overhead Safety (for OH works)
• Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable
• Fibre splicing experience
• MEWP ticket
• Pole climbing certification
• LANTRA / Openreach accreditations
