3 of us were at Lochmaben on Friday , removing regrowth off some previously topped trees with the woodchip going to a local garden and all logs taken away. Most of it was lowered down on ropes to protect the autumn crocuses

Aiden and Zen were removing a tree which had outgrown the garden space and then reduced a tall beech hedge at Clarencefield, making it easier for the owner to cut in the future

And Aiden out on his own trimming hedges for a regular at Lochmaben

We plan on volunteering every 2 weeks to make it look more cared for, and less abandoned

It's called Garvald Graveyard . The local farm and burn are Garrel . I think it's Anglicised of Garvald

There is an old church in here too covered in ivy which is almost invisible 🫥 . Category C listed in 1971 . Think this means left to rack and ruin 🦇

Today's visit to Dawyck botanic gardens produced much more interesting photos than the felling licence information I gathered in the Borders this morning

I went to see the variety of trees , but the Azaleas and blue poppies were also doing well

It seems like its great time of year to visit
