A little bit of beauty for this evening.

Those following us will see we regularly volunteer on Priory Park as part of the Rose Garden Project.

Earlier this year we planted 250+ new roses into the beds to fill gaps and replace dead plants. The original beds were originally planted with red and white roses. We chose to plant a selection of roses which add some colour to the Rose garden.

We are very happy with the blooms in their first year!!!

A not so positive post today.

The park / council and FoPP are recieving a lot of criticism over the lilypond.

12 months ago we collaborated to remove the invasive non native species of Cressula from the lilypond which was suffocating all of the plants. This was at a great expense.

The pond was taken back to the structure so we could replant and start with a blank canvas.

We are at a standstill, and have been for 9 months.

We cannot work on the lilypond while the community continue to mistreat it.

We cannot secure funding for projects.

A community member has put goldfish in the pond, which have bred. There are hundreds of them now which need to be removed.

Community members continue to remove the slabs from around the pond, which requires funding to replace.

Community members continue to throw shopping trolleys, glass bottles and rubbish into the pond which has to be removed weekly.

We have a wonderful plan in place to restock the lilypond with native plants and encourage wildlife to the lilypond and are keen to make this happen, but we need the community to stop with the antisocial behaviour at the lilypond first.

Our friends over at Hawbush Community Gardens are starting a youth club for year 6+

What a fantastic club this sounds!

We thought it was about time we shared this super exciting new provision starting this autumn at Hawbush Community Gardens!

We have been having so much fun at our HAF club over the summer, and so many of the young people wanted to do more sessions, so we thought we should reveal what’s been hiding in the pipelines for a while!

Some of the our Friends of Priory Park are heading over to volunteer at Jasmine Road Community Gardens on Saturday.

WORK PARTY - SATURDAY 25th JULY
10.30am till 2.30pm

We are going to be having our 1st Work Party this Saturday 25th July 10.30am till 2.30pm at Jasmine Road Community Gardens

There are plenty of jobs to do from Weeding 🌱 to helping cut down the overhanging Trees 🌳 to sorting piles of wood to be burnt on the fire 🔥 anything you can do will be a Massive help 🙏 to us be it an Hour or you are able to stay for the whole Session that would be Fantastic!!!

We want to be able to show off our Beautiful Space and have it looking it's best for our Family Pride Event 🌈 in a couple of weeks time.

We will have plenty of Water, Tea and Coffee ☕ and will supply you with Yummy Food 😋 as our Thank you 🙏 for your help.

Look at our beautiful Rose Garden.

Today we will be completing a Butterfly Count around the park, we will have spare sheets available for anyone wishing to take part, just come and collect sheets from us in the Rose Garden.

Our weekly garden group meets at Thursday 1.30pm in the rose garden for 2 hours. All tools provided, just bring a drink along with you.
