🚨 *This is why choosing the cheapest electrician can cost you more…* 🚨

I attended a property today where the upstairs sockets kept tripping every time something was plugged in.

When I removed the consumer unit cover, this is what I found 👇

- Multiple loose connections ⚠️
- Poor terminations ⚠️
- Signs of overheating ⚠️
- Dangerous workmanship ❌

👉 The worrying part?
This property had an *EICR carried out in January*.

That means this was either *missed or ignored*, and the installation was signed off when serious issues were still present.

⚡ This is exactly why I always say:
*The cheapest quote is not always the best.*

An EICR is not just a certificate to tick a box — it is there to make sure your electrics are actually safe.

I take the time to:
✔️ Inspect properly
✔️ Test thoroughly
✔️ Identify real issues
✔️ Clearly explain any findings
✔️ Give honest professional advice

🔥 Faults like this can easily lead to overheating, loss of power, damaged equipment, or even fire if left unchecked.

⚡ FUSEBOARD UPGRADE – BEFORE & AFTER ⚡

This property originally had an old rewireable fuseboard.
When removing it, there were clear signs of thermal damage and overheating inside the board 🔥

The problem with older fuse wire boards is they offer very limited protection.
If a loose connection overheats, it often won’t trip — it just keeps getting hotter over time.

That’s how electrical fires can start.

✅ Upgraded to a modern FuseBox consumer unit
✅ Individual RCBO protection on every circuit
✅ Surge Protection Device (SPD) installed
✅ Fully tested and certified

Now each circuit has its own protection.
If there’s a fault, only that circuit trips — not the whole house.

Electrical safety standards have moved on massively over the years.
If your property still has an old fuse wire board, it’s definitely worth getting it checked.

Consumer Unit Upgrade Completed This Weekend 👌

The old fuseboard setup was outdated and didn’t have full protection in place.
We’ve now installed a brand new FuseBox consumer unit featuring:

✅ Individual RCBO protection
✅ Type 2 Surge Protection Device (SPD)
✅ 100A Main Switch
✅ Clearly labelled circuits
✅ Fully tested & certified

While carrying out the work, I also found there was NO main water bonding installed ❌
This has now been fitted correctly to bring the installation up to current standards ✅

A board change isn’t just about making it look tidy — it’s about safety, compliance and protecting the property properly.
