I had front row seats for my day 2 ferry trip, which allowed me to sit back, drink my coffee and enjoy the views before a busy day of basket weaving.
All the bark splitting and prep work yesterday meant we could get right into setting up the base for our baskets before building up the sides with various varieties of willow and cedar bark, grasses, leaves and waxed threads, before finishing off the rims of our completed baskets.
Joan kept us amused with her own quirky descriptions of the processes and her lovely choc chip, banana muffins, as well as her extensive knowledge of all the natural materials and designs. I think some of the ladies even came up with their own designs inadvertently, but they were very effective.
Something else to add to my retirement hobby list.
It was really nice to meet up with at last, having followed her for many years now and always missed her classes on previous trips to Canada. Hopefully it won't be the last time.
