Following the demolition of the former swimming pool and leisure facilities, work at Hyll Hotel has moved firmly into the groundworks stage. Extensive excavations have been completed, reinforcement has been installed and concrete is now being poured to form the foundations and ground beams that will support the new multifunction wedding venue and event space.

Structural steel sections are also being introduced to reinforce key areas of the site and support the changes in level around the historic buildings. Much of this work will eventually disappear beneath the finished venue, but it is an essential stage in ensuring the new structure remains strong and secure for generations to come.

Building better communities means more than building homes.

Being part of the Cotswolds isn't just where we work.

It's who we are.

We're proud to sponsor Bourton-on-the-Water Football Club and support events including Sezincote Fireworks, Chadlington Beer Festival and Cheltenham Town FC.

We're also fortunate to help local people raising money for charities, schools and community projects whenever we can.

Construction is about leaving something behind that lasts.

Sometimes that's a beautiful home.

Sometimes it's helping a local community thrive.

If you're organising something locally, we'd love to hear about it.

✨ Finished Project Friday ✨

Last week we revealed the beautifully renovated main house. Today, we step outside to explore Church View Annex, another exceptional collaboration with Eastabrook Architects .

The property’s original stables and garden buildings have been transformed into an extraordinary self-contained leisure retreat, bringing together a swimming pool, gym, sauna, cinema, home office, full oak kitchen, showers, changing facilities, outdoor cooking, and an impressive purpose-built wine cabinet.

Original stone walls and oak roof trusses sit alongside black steel-framed glazing, warm timber joinery, natural stone floors, and vast sliding doors that open the interior directly onto the pool terrace. It is a remarkable example of historic agricultural buildings being given an entirely new life.

Which part would get the most use in your home: the pool, the sauna, the cinema, or the outdoor kitchen?

An electrical plan should never be copied and pasted from one house to another.

People don’t use their homes in exactly the same way.

Where will the furniture sit?

Which side of the bed do you charge your phone?

Will the kitchen island need power?

Where will the Christmas tree go?

Could an electric vehicle, solar installation or garden building be added later?

These sound like small questions, but they make a huge difference once a home is finished.

The best time to plan lighting, sockets, data, smart controls, EV charging and future upgrades is before the walls are closed and the finishes go on.

That’s one of the advantages of having electrical expertise within the wider construction team. The installation can be planned alongside the architecture, joinery, kitchen and interior design rather than treated as a separate job at the end.

You should notice how well the electrical system works, not all the compromises that had to be made.

What electrical detail do you wish had been planned better in your own home?

The best builders never stop learning.

Construction changes every year.

Building regulations evolve.

Materials improve.

Technology advances.

If you're still building the same way you did ten years ago, you're already behind.

Our team regularly undertakes additional training and professional development because we believe learning never stops.

That's how standards improve.

That's how quality stays consistent.

And that's how we continue delivering projects we're proud to put our name on.

Got a project in mind? We'd love to talk through your plans.

✨ Finished Project Friday ✨

Today we’re revealing Church View House, an exceptional Grade II listed renovation completed in partnership with Eastabrook Architects.

This was a complete transformation of the main residence, undertaken with enormous care for its historic stonework, windows, beams, and original character. Behind the traditional exterior, the house was fully rewired and replumbed, with underfloor heating, an air source heat pump, security upgrades, and refined new interiors introduced throughout.

Highlights include a beautifully fitted kitchen, luxurious bathrooms, extensive bespoke joinery, black steel-framed internal doors, converted attic accommodation, and an extraordinary private bar with an electrically operated glazed hatch leading to the wine cellar below.

Some of the most important craftsmanship in a finished home is never seen again.

Structural steel can disappear behind plaster, stone and timber, but it might be supporting an entire upper floor, creating a large open-plan kitchen or making a dramatic glazed opening possible.

When steelwork is badly coordinated, the effects spread across the whole project.

Openings don’t line up. Services clash with beams. Installation dates slip. Other trades are left waiting.

Having our own steel fabrication team gives us much greater control over that process. We can work directly from the engineer’s requirements, fabricate accurately, coordinate installation and use our own crane where larger sections are involved.

Not all steel needs to be hidden, either.

We also create staircases, gates, balustrades, fireplaces, planters and other architectural features where the finish matters just as much as the strength.

Steel can be the invisible structure behind a design or one of the first things you notice.

Which do you prefer: steel completely concealed or made into a feature?

The transformation of Job’s Barn into a substantial new family home continues, with the brick and block walls rising and the internal layout now becoming clearly defined.

Structural steelwork and engineered metal-web floor joists are being installed throughout, creating the larger open spaces and first-floor structure while preparing routes for the building’s future services.

Surrounded by open countryside, the scale and character of this exciting residential project are now really beginning to emerge.

Technology doesn't make a great builder. Knowing when to use it does.

Everyone talks about the latest building technology.

The reality?

Sometimes traditional craftsmanship is still the best solution.

Sometimes modern methods save weeks.

The skill is knowing the difference.

We constantly invest in new techniques, equipment and training, but only if it genuinely improves quality, efficiency or sustainability for our clients.

Got a project in mind? We'd love to talk through your plans.
