A look back at Cromlix as we approached the end of November last year.

At this stage, the new restaurant was beginning to take shape, new framing, structural works and services all progressing around the original building.

One of our favourite details was the original stone wall, carefully retained and restored to become a main feature within the finished restaurant.

A great example of combining new construction with the character and history already there.

A throwback to March, when the scale of the transformation was really starting to show.

Traditional oak framing, major structural works and plenty of coordination going into bringing the next stage of this project together.

Pads in, timber frame going up for the new outdoor kitchen area, and the roof starting to come together.

A lot happening across the site now, with the groundworks 👷‍♂️ and joinery 🪚 progressing side by side and the shape of the project becoming much clearer with every visit.

Its amazing the difference a bit of concrete makes. The Bauder Flat Roof was coming along nicely, and the first few pours for the hotels kitchen and restaurant were being completed.

We set ourselves an inhouse target to have the new extension wind and water tight at Cromlix before the Christmas break and everyone involved was certainly helping to make that happen.

In February, on one of our other sites, the team were still busy with down takings and groundworks, stripping things back and getting the foundations in for what was coming next.

A lot of this work will eventually be hidden beneath the finished build, but it’s this stage that sets everything up for what follows.

Below our groundworks team were busy putting in all the drainage runs for the kitchen.

Above the roof was being prepped for the Bauder Flat Roofs system.

The things you don’t see are often some of the biggest parts of a project.

One of the main steel beams installed here came in at around 5 tonnes, forming part of the structure that would create the new skylight above the garden room at Cromlix

A huge amount of work goes into these stages long before the finished spaces start to take shape, but they are what make the final result possible.

Our team was flat out at the turn of the year, with three new projects starting and another four already ongoing.

This was the very beginning of one of our private residential projects, which involved around 90% of the existing building being demolished, along with a full internal strip-out.

We managed to get started in December, which gave us the opportunity to get ahead of the programme before the main works really began.

There is a long way to go from what you see here. We’ll take you through the journey of this property as the client’s vision begins to come to life.
