I take pride in making sure that any mess is kept to a minimum in my customers' homes and businesses.

One way of doing this is sealing the fireplace like this. It means that soot goes from flue to vacuum - not into the room. 👌

Turned from chimney sweep to ‘chimney sleuth’ during a recent sweep when I discovered these nails in a fireplace. 🕵️

What do you think the reason for them being there was? Perhaps some builders left off-cuts of timber that were too tempting not to burn!? 🤔

If a fire is being run too hot, it can cause soot to crystallise - as shown in this picture.

Regularly running your fire at these temperatures can cause a stove and flue to be permanently damaged!
