Sometimes the best feedback isn't something you ask for... it's something that arrives unexpectedly. Over the last few days we've received two messages from members of the public about our surfacing teams and we wanted to share them because they perfectly reflect what Derek Lewis Ltd is all about.

💬 "The road looks fantastic and was done to a very professional standard. The teamwork of the whole crew was brilliant to observe... Credit where credit is due."

And another resident took the time to write:
💬 "They have worked in almost intolerable heat wearing their heavy hi-vis jackets... every single one of them has been polite and helpful... one of the guys even escorted me to my drive with a car full of shopping. Please pass on my compliments to their superiors, they have been brilliant!"

Comments like these mean a great deal to us.

Of course we're proud of delivering high-quality road surfacing, but we're just as proud of the way our teams conduct themselves every day. Whether it's working safely, treating residents with respect, helping people access their homes or simply taking the time to answer questions, it's these small things that leave a lasting impression.

Another excellent example of retail car park resurfacing completed by the Derek Lewis team.

This one took us from our home base at Doncaster over to Norwich. As you can see from the photos, it's a busy retail park with plenty of everyday traffic, so after years of constant use the surface was well overdue for some attention.

Our job was simple – remove the worn-out surface and replace it with a new, hard-wearing finish that's built to cope with the demands of a busy retail environment.

No matter where the job is, we turn up, get the job done properly, and leave our clients with a parking area that's built to last.

🌉 What a night on the Humber Bridge…

Last weekend marked the start of a major multi-phase surfacing project for the Derek Lewis Ltd team, working through the night on one of the UK’s most iconic bridges.

The weather didn’t make things easy, heavy rain and a very long wet night for everyone involved but the men pushed on and got the first phase underway safely and professionally.

A contra-flow system was put in place to help keep traffic moving and minimise disruption for the public while the works were carried out overnight.
There’s something special about working on structures like the Humber Bridge. It’s a project the whole team can be proud to be part of, and a great example of the hard work, planning, and commitment that goes into keeping our road network moving.

Massive credit to everyone on site who battled the conditions and delivered a fantastic start to the project. More phases to come over the next few weeks.

A car park upgrade… without disrupting a single day of trading! That’s exactly what we delivered in South Wales.

We carried out a targeted partial resurfacing of the car park, focusing on the area most in need of repair. To keep everything running smoothly for both our client and public, we adopted a true “business as usual” approach, delivering the work in carefully planned phases across several day shifts. The most heavily worn section was identified for a full plane-out and resurfacing, restoring it to an ‘as new’ condition. By working in phases, we ensured zero disruption to shoppers, with each section completed and ready for use by the following morning.

To finish, fresh line markings were also applied after each shift, leaving the car park fully operational and looking its best as the retail park opened its doors each day.
