Bit of a mad week. 🌧️

That rain last week has kept the phone going non-stop - we're taking over 10 enquiries a day at the minute.

If you've requested a quote, we haven't forgotten you. Dave's out measuring up every day and working through them in order. It's just taking a bit longer than normal to get round everyone.

We won't price a roof we haven't been up and looked at properly, and we're not going to start cutting corners now.

Straight from the customer's mouth 🏠

Mark had a full re-roof done with us - start to finish, every tile off and replaced. Then the weather did us a favour and properly tested it.

"That were a tester, this monsoon weather. Not a drip of water anywhere."

He found us through a neighbour we'd worked for round the corner, went and had a look at the job, and got us booked in. Turns out the other quotes he had were dearer and he wasn't getting any more for his money.

He also mentions the lads - self-sufficient, polite, tidied up after themselves, even cleaned the gutters out. That's the bit we're proudest of, honestly.

On this one, the weather had other ideas and held the job up - but whenever it was safe to get back on the roof, the team cracked on.

From stripping the existing roof back, through to membrane, battens and new tiles being laid course by course - this is the work that goes into doing it properly.

Five ways to spot a cowboy roofer.

1 - Cash only. No invoice, no bank transfer - they're probably not registered.
2 - A "special price if you book today." Real roofers don't need pressure tactics.
3 - No Facebook, no Google reviews, no website. Nothing to check them against.
4 - No written quote. If it's not in writing the bill can change halfway through.
5 - They knocked on your door because they "noticed a slipped tile."

That last one especially. Legitimate roofers don't cold-knock.

If someone ticks any of these, get them off your property. And if you've got older relatives, send them this - they're the ones who get targeted.

The £400 mistake most Doncaster homeowners make.

Three things I see all the time, and all three are cheap to sort right now:

1 - Slipped or cracked tiles
2 - Cracked mortar
3 - Lead work gone at the chimney

None of them are a big job today. Leave them and water gets in, timbers go soft, and you're looking at ceilings coming down and a bill with an extra zero on it.

A good roofer fixes the £400 problem before it becomes a £5,000 one. A bad one waits.

Mark's roof, start to finish. 🏠

We stripped it completely, sorted a cracked beam that had been there years, and got it watertight before the weather turned.

Then we had that weekend of rain. Mark went up in the loft to check.
