When you invite someone into your home to diagnose a damp or timber problem, how do you know their advice is based on genuine expertise? 🏡

We believe qualifications and professional standards matter.

Our surveyor, Chris Hamilton, holds the ABBE/PCA Level 3 Certificated Surveyor of Timber and Dampness in Buildings (CSTDB) qualification.

But what does that actually mean for our customers?

The CSTDB is a specialist qualification for professionals who inspect and diagnose problems involving dampness and timber in buildings. It demonstrates assessed knowledge and competence in identifying defects, understanding their causes and recommending appropriate remedial action.

And that distinction is important.

This customer contacted us after damp returned to a loft conversion wall that had already been treated previously.

As you can imagine, they were understandably frustrated. They had already paid to have the work carried out and couldn’t understand why the damp had come back.

One of the biggest misconceptions we see during the warmer months is homeowners thinking their damp problem has “gone away” because:

This York property was diagnosed with rising damp following a full damp and timber survey. Our team then carried out a complete remedial process from start to finish, ensuring the issue was treated correctly and at its source.
