A great team effort on this recent job, carrying out the removal of several large poplar trees alongside additional pruning and clearance works across the site.

With trees positioned close to high-voltage overhead lines, careful planning was a key part of the job. National Grid supported the works with an organised power shutdown, allowing our team to work safely within the required area.

Two MEWPs were used to provide safe and efficient access, alongside our usual site controls and ecological checks before and throughout the works.

All timber and arisings were processed as agreed, leaving the site clean and tidy. Another well-coordinated job completed by the team.

The team were back at Tarka Holiday Park carrying out coppicing works to a group of lime trees growing in close proximity to the holiday caravans.

With limited working space and surrounding structures to consider, our MEWP (cherry picker) was used to provide safe, controlled access to the trees and allow the work to be completed efficiently.

As always, site-specific risk assessments and ecological checks were carried out before works commenced, with the team carefully managing the work area throughout.

A great job by the team in a particularly tight working space.

Silver Birch Maintenance

A recent domestic job in Barnstaple, carrying out maintenance works to this mature Silver Birch.

The works included carefully reducing and reshaping the crown along with crown lifting and selective pruning to improve clearance from the adjacent streetlight, roadway and footpath.

During our initial checks, evidence of active pigeon nesting was identified within the canopy, so the planned works were cancelled and rescheduled. On our return, a further nesting inspection was carried out and, once confirmed clear of active nests, works were able to proceed safely and responsibly.

Our MEWP was used to provide safe and controlled access to the canopy, allowing the team to carry out the works efficiently within this residential setting.

All pruning was undertaken in accordance with BS3998:2010 Tree Work Recommendations, with arisings removed and responsibly recycled and the site left clean and tidy.

Recent Work – Monkey Puzzle Tree Removal

This week the team carried out the careful dismantling of a mature Monkey Puzzle tree in a domestic garden.

Unfortunately, the tree had declined beyond recovery, leaving removal as the safest and most appropriate option. Due to its size and location within the garden, we used our tracked MEWP (cherry picker) to safely dismantle the tree in small, controlled sections before processing and removing all arisings from site.

Before any work is undertaken, we always carry out the appropriate site and ecological checks to ensure the work can be completed safely and responsibly.

A great effort from the team, with another garden left clean, tidy and safe.

🌳 Back out in Lynton for the National Trust 🌳

Over the past couple of weeks, we've been carrying out tree safety works on behalf of the National Trust across Lynton, North Devon.

Our work has included removing dead and unsafe trees, reducing trees where appropriate, and improving clearance around buildings and public footpaths, while carefully balancing public safety with the ecological value of the woodland.

Every site is assessed before work begins, with ecological checks carried out and all arisings managed in accordance with the National Trust's woodland management requirements.

And because no week in British tree surgery would be complete without a bit of weather... 🌧️

Yesterday the team got caught in a couple of torrential downpours. After weeks of sunshine, the waterproofs were still in the vehicles, so they made the best of it with a couple of empty dumpy bags until the worst had passed! Safe to say spirits were still high.

A huge thank you to the team for their hard work and professionalism, whatever the weather throws at them!

Another productive day for the team in the North Devon sunshine.

Today's project involved carefully carrying out crown reductions to two mature roadside trees using our tracked MEWP, allowing us to work safely and efficiently whilst protecting the surrounding area.

As the work was adjacent to the public highway, a traffic management licence was obtained in advance, with traffic management in place throughout the works to keep both our team and road users safe.

A great effort by the team in the heat today.

Residential Silver Birch Removal

A recent residential project completed by the team involved the careful dismantling of a mature Silver Birch tree to close to ground level, followed by eco-plug treatment of the stump to help prevent regrowth.

Working in a confined space alongside the property, the tree was dismantled in sections and lowered safely before all arisings were processed and the site left clean and tidy.

Another great job completed by the team, with traffic management in place to keep both our crew and the public safe throughout the works. 👏
