It was carefully considered transformation that evolved over a few months of planning, collaboration, and design refinement. From the outset, the brief was ambitious: to create a bold, impactful interior while respecting the building’s original character
All the timbers were shot-blasted by a trusted professional third party, which made light work of removing the old coatings. It did, however, leave the timber rough and pitted, so we worked through sanding grades from 80 through to 320 to achieve a smooth finish. Once we were satisfied with the finish, a heavy-duty extreme satin varnish was applied using an airless spray system. While these areas are not subject to regular contact, proper abrasion enhances both the final finish and the longevity of the coating.
All the woodwork, from the white finishes to the varnished surfaces, was completed using a correct full water-based system, which improves air quality not only for us but also for you, the homeowner. It also has much quicker drying times and, when applied correctly in certain properties and environments, is now far more durable with greater longevity.
The walls and ceilings received a full Dulux Trade system. All plaster was mist-coated appropriately using the correct paint. The finished coats are Ultra Matt, which is absolutely faultless and ideal for these environments, alongside the wonderful Dulux Heritage range used on all walls. This works beautifully in period homes, maintaining both the aesthetics and character of the property.
The colour chosen from the Dulux range, ‘Pine Needle’, was carefully selected for its deep, rich tones, which complement everything so well.
The porch also featured a colour from the Dulux range and was finished in a product called Scuffshield — Dulux’s most durable paint for walls and ceilings — making it ideal for busy environments.
A wonderful rich gold metallic special effect paint was used to promote the wonderful architectural fireplace feature.
