Today's planning permission can become tomorrow's tile order.

Recent figures from Ireland have shown a significant increase in the number of homes receiving planning permission.

Of course, permission doesn't mean tiles are being installed tomorrow.

But it does give retailers, merchants, contractors and suppliers an indication of where future activity could emerge.

For us, the important question isn't simply:

“How many houses are being built?”

It's:

“Who will supply the bathrooms, floors, wet areas and installation products when those projects start?”

Grey hasn't disappeared — but warmer interiors are definitely taking centre stage.

One of the clearest directions coming from Cersaie this year was the continued move towards warmer, more natural-looking surfaces.

And we're seeing these looks move beyond the tile itself.
