Hi folks,
Just a quick update to say that we have filled our apprentice intake for September 2026.

We have been getting a lot of enquiries in the last few weeks about electrical apprenticeships, as has been the case for the last number of years.

We are appreciative that you have Certex in mind when seeking an employer and we are proud to see so many young men and women seeking a future in our industry but unfortunately we won’t be able to accommodate any more this year.

We continue to grow and expand and we will be more than happy to take more apprentices on in the future when the opportunity arises we will post an update when we are accepting applications for 2027.

Thanks and good luck to all the young people still seeking an apprenticeship this year, we know it’s not easy but trust that the electrical trade will be in good hands with those who persevere.

Most surveys don’t go into much detail on the electrical system — which means issues can easily be missed until after you’ve moved in.

We were recently contacted by a local property investor with a portfolio of 3 terraced rental properties in Sion Mills. With new tenants preparing to move in, the landlord required EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Reports) to ensure the properties remained legally compliant and insurance requirements were met.

It’s not all commercial at Certex, we have experienced teams completing domestic jobs daily. ✅

📍 Strabane – Recently completed an EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) for a landlord. The existing fuse board was no longer serviceable, so we installed a brand new RCBO consumer unit with surge protection. This upgrade keeps the property landlord compliant, improves electrical safety for tenants, and ensures the installation is fully certified and up to current regulations.

📍 Derry – Installed a 4K Hikvision CCTV system with 2 fully wired cameras. These systems provide some of the clearest security footage on the market and can be viewed anytime, anywhere from your phone, giving the client complete peace of mind and improved home security.

📍 Ballykelly – Installed a hardwired Ring doorbell. A wired system removes the hassle of charging batteries and ensures the device is always powered and always recording, adding extra security to the property.

📍 Dungiven – Fitted feature up/down lighting at a client’s front door. These lights really enhance the entrance of the property, creating a modern look while improving visibility at night.

📍 Coleraine – Installed external soffit downlights which completely transform the property after dark. These lights brighten the garden and outdoor space, perfect for the longer evenings ahead.

📍 Culmore – Added an outdoor weatherproof socket for a long-time customer as they get their garden ready for the brighter nights.

The team just completed a full Electrical Inspection & Testing programme on a five-storey, 6,500m² Grade A office development!

🔹 20+ distribution boards.
🔹 400+ live circuits tested and verified.
🔹 Incoming supply and main LV switchboard fully inspected.
🔹 Mechanical, small power, lighting and life safety systems comprehensively assessed.

From main switchgear down to final circuits, every element of this building’s electrical backbone was inspected, tested, verified and documented in full compliance with BS 7671.

Working within a live commercial environment, our team coordinated floor-by-floor shutdowns, minimised disruption, and delivered a complete condition report covering thousands of metres of containment and cabling.
