Big progress on our latest project in Ferring, West Sussex! ๐Ÿ—๏ธ๐Ÿ’ช

The ACG team completed all the demolition and groundworks in just six days, getting everything ready for the next phase.

Now the bricklayers are flying into the build of the new extensions and garage and itโ€™s really starting to take shape. ๐Ÿงฑ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Great work from all the guys on site โ€” plenty more to come from this one!

"We haven't got the time to manage that type of thing ourselves." ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™‚๏ธ

That was one of the big reasons Ian chose ACG for the work on his home in Lancing.

The old kitchen was too small for a family of four, so we opened the space up with a side extension, new kitchen, internal alterations, underfloor heating and new glazing.

Ian had four or five quotes from different builders, but what stood out was the way we approached the project and, more importantly, took the pressure of managing it away from him.

And once the work was finished, the difference was pretty clear.

More space, more light, a kitchen that actually works for the family, and a garden and driveway that are much easier to use and look after โœ…

There was still disruption along the way, but as Ian said, we made the process as easy as possible.

Really appreciate the kind words, Ian ๐Ÿค

Having the right people around you makes a big difference on site ๐Ÿ˜…

This is Scott, our man on the mixer.

If I'm over there laying the concrete, I know Scott's going to knock it up exactly how we need it. Same mix, same consistency, no guesswork.

He's usually good for about six to eight hours on the mixer, with the occasional Monster and whatever else keeps him going ๐Ÿ˜‚

That's the thing with having a team that's worked together for years. Everyone knows their job, everyone knows the standard, and you don't have to keep checking over each other's shoulders.

The banter comes free. The concrete still has to be right ๐Ÿซก

Ever been told three weeks, then still waiting three months later? ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

This four-car garage in Ferring took us just 10 days from start to finish.

Two open bays, one enclosed bay, with all the groundworks and brickwork done by the team.

But before we could even start building, there was quite a bit of work to do ๐Ÿ”จ

We spent five days clearing the site and excavating the foundations down to 1.5 metres before the building inspector signed us off to pour the concrete.

Then came the rest: four muckaways, 16 cubic metres of concrete, around 2,000 bricks and 500 blocks, all completed in 10 days.

It's not just about getting the job finished quickly. The groundwork underneath has to be right too.

That's what makes the difference between something that lasts and something that starts causing problems a couple of years down the line โœ…

Ever wondered why some concrete slabs are still solid 30 years later, while others start cracking after a couple of winters? ๐Ÿงฑ

A lot of it comes down to getting the basics right.

We're pouring the garage slab on this Ferring project, and every mix is measured the same way โœ…

Five shovels of ballast, half a bag of cement, then another five. Same gauge every time, so we get the same consistency and strength throughout.

We've also set a 12mm fibrous expansion joint around the edges and used that to screed the slab to five inches, or 120mm, exactly as the engineer specified.

Then it's a case of keeping everything clean as we go, getting the edges right, tamping the surface and making sure the slab is protected while it cures.

Nothing particularly exciting about any of it.

But it's those little things you don't really see that make the difference to how a slab performs years down the line.

And once it's all protected, the lads can finally get off to the pub. It is Friday after all ๐Ÿบ

The final piece of this project in Goring by Sea ๐Ÿซก

Weโ€™ve spent the last few months transforming Kenny and Juliaโ€™s home, from a large kitchen extension and full house refurb to three bathrooms, new bedrooms and a big landscaping project with a porcelain patio.

The driveway was the last thing to finish.

They needed more space for two cars, so we enlarged the existing driveway and replaced the old broken concrete with a permeable resin system.

It gives them much better access from the road, looks a lot cleaner from the front, and the permeable system lets rainwater drain straight through into the ground.

The whole driveway took around five days. Three to four days for the excavation and edging, then two days for the resin.

And now the whole project finally feels complete ๐Ÿค

Another stage complete on our project in Findon! ๐Ÿก๐Ÿ”จ

This is the final room in the house where weโ€™ve removed the existing floorboards and upgraded the floor with breathable felt, insulation, vapour membrane and new flooring.

A big improvement to the overall thermal performance of the property, helping make the home warmer and more energy efficient. ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Great progress on our Portslade project! ๐Ÿงฑ๐Ÿ‘Š

The brickwork phase is really taking shape โ€” boundary walls, retaining walls, reinforced concrete blockwork and the extension are all progressing nicely.

Still plenty more to come on this one, but a cracking effort from the ACG team so far and fantastic customers to work for! ๐Ÿ—๏ธ

Another big transformation underway for ACG Builders! ๐Ÿ—๏ธ

Weโ€™ve demolished the existing outbuildings and removed internal walls to create a huge open-plan kitchen diner, as well as opening up another area to form a much larger bathroom.

Structurally, this one involved a picture-frame steel configuration, creating the open spaces ready for the next stages.

And we couldnโ€™t ask for better customers โ€” keeping the lads fuelled with ice creams every day! ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿ˜‚

Plenty more to come from this one! ๐Ÿ‘Š
