What to look for when buying temporary electric fencing wire.
- Check the Ohms resistance as this dictates how efficient the product is at carrying power. The lower the figure, the better the product.
- Check breaking strain, the higher the figure the stronger the product is
- Then decide whether you want Polywire which has the metal strands twisted with poly, or Polybraid, which is often stronger as it has a central braid running through it and is woven together, so is both more stable and stronger.
- Finally, check the metal in the product, both the type of metal and the number of strands. Steel is a cheaper option, but Aluminium and Copper are both more conductive than Steel, meaning your Ohms resistance will often be lower.
Cheaper Polywire is fine for shorter runs, but longer fence lines need better quality products to carry the power effectively.
