Another open chimney safely swept today! 🧹

I was called out to sweep an open chimney and found this poor dead bird trapped inside.

Without a cowl, birds can easily fly or fall into your chimney. This can lead to blocked flues, dangerous smoke blowback, and unpleasant smells.

I spotted some minor cracks in the firebricks during the sweep, as you can see in the photos.

Why this matters: Firebricks protect your stove's outer metal casing. Small hairline cracks are completely normal and safe to use, but it is always good to monitor them before they turn into major gaps.
