Fire Alarm Installation Engineer (Fire Safety Systems)
About the Role
As an Fire Alarm Installation Engineer, you will focus entirely on the hands-on first-fix and second-fix installation of fire protection, fire suppression, and life safety systems within commercial environments.
Working both independently and as part of a team, you will execute pre-planned installation projects safely, professionally, and to the highest regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Fire System Deployment: Install and modify fire suppression, fire protection, and life safety electrical systems.
• Containment & Cabling: Run conduit, tray work, trunking, and specialized fire-resistant cabling within commercial buildings.
• Technical Interpretation: Interpret fire system wiring diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and manufacturer installation manuals.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all installation work complies with BS 5839 (or relevant fire safety standards) and current UK wiring regulations.
• Team Supervision: Supervise on-site installation works and provide technical guidance to junior team members or mates.
• Logistics & Prep: Plan daily requirements to ensure all necessary fire safety components, tools, and consumables are loaded and ready before attending site.
• Safety & Compliance: Report any Health & Safety concerns immediately to the Compliance Manager or Senior Management.
• Vehicle Care: Complete weekly company vehicle inspections in accordance with corporate procedures.
• Customer Relations: Represent Aspect Fire Solutions professionally to clients, site managers, and main contractors on busy construction projects.
About You
We are seeking a focused installation specialist who takes pride in neat, compliant workmanship and has direct experience routing and fixing life safety systems.
Essential Requirements
• Proven experience installing containment and cabling for fire protection, fire suppression, or life safety systems.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• ECS or CSCS Card (required for commercial project site access).
• Strong blueprint reading, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Strong commitment to Health & Safety and safe working practices on live construction sites.
Desirable Criteria
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
• FIA (Fire Industry Association) installation qualifications or equivalent training.
• Recognised Electrical Qualification/Certification.
• SSSTS/SMSTS Qualification.
