Another access solution successfully delivered!

We're delighted to have completed the installation of a new 5-step FlexStep at The Eagle Bar, Manchester, providing safe, inclusive and discreet access within the venue's newly developed entrance area.

The Liftup FlexStep is an innovative solution that functions as both a staircase and a platform lift, making it ideal where space is limited but accessibility is essential. It integrates seamlessly into modern environments, allowing everyone to enter the building safely and with dignity.

This project demonstrates how thoughtful lift solutions can overcome challenging access requirements without compromising on design or usability.

We're pleased to share another successful lift modernisation project completed at Southmoor Apartments in Manchester.

As part of the wider regeneration of this former high-rise residential building, we upgraded the existing lift system to improve reliability, safety, performance and passenger experience.

Myth: You will run out of air if you get stuck.

Reality: Elevators are not airtight. They are designed with ventilation systems—often required to be at least 2% of the floor space—ensuring a constant supply of oxygen even during a power cut.

Myth: An overcrowded elevator will plummet.

Reality: Modern lifts have overload sensors. If the weight limit is exceeded, the lift simply will not move, and the doors will stay open—often accompanied by a buzzer—until someone gets off.

Reality: The car itself controls the landing doors. Unless the elevator car is level with the floor, the mechanism to unlock and open the outer doors will not engage.

Myth: The elevator will free-fall if the cable snaps.

Reality: Elevators are held by multiple steel cables (usually 4 to 8), each strong enough to hold the full weight of the car on its own. If they were to somehow fail, a mechanical "overspeed governor" triggers emergency brakes that lock the car to the guide rails.
