It was a pleasure to welcome the team back from National Access and Scaffolding Confederation (NASC) to our Dartford office as we support their continued work to showcase the people, opportunities and career pathways that exist across the scaffolding sector.

For too long, careers in scaffolding have been overlooked despite offering excellent opportunities for progression, competitive earnings, professional qualifications and apprenticeships that enable young people to earn while they learn.

The timing couldn't be better. Recent Government announcements highlighting the importance of construction and trade careers recognise what many of us in the industry already know: building Britain's future requires skilled people and rewarding vocational career paths.

At Inner City Scaffolding, we're proud to support initiatives that challenge outdated perceptions and give a platform to the real stories of those working in our industry. Whether starting as an apprentice or progressing into supervisory, technical, commercial or management roles, scaffolding offers a diverse and rewarding career journey.

We're looking forward to sharing the finished content and continuing to play our part in inspiring the next generation of scaffolders and construction professionals.

𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗢𝗞? “𝗜’𝗺 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲.”

In construction, it’s one of the most common answers you’ll hear.

“I’m fine.”

A quick response.

A default reply.

Something we say before we’ve even stopped to think.

But the truth is... not everyone is fine.

In scaffolding, we work in a high-risk environment every day.

We plan for it.
We manage it.
We protect against it.

From working at height to complex structures, physical safety is always front of mind.

But there’s another risk, far less visible... and often far less talked about.

Across the construction industry, more lives are lost to su***de than to on-site accidents.

And that’s a conversation we can’t ignore.

Many people, particularly men in construction, don’t feel comfortable speaking openly about what they’re going through. Worries are kept to themselves. Pressures build.

And “I’m fine” becomes the easy answer.

At Inner City Scaffolding, we want to help change that.

We’re launching our “It’s OK... not to be OK” campaign. We are encouraging a culture where speaking up is seen as a strength, not a weakness... before it's too late.

We’re pleased to announce the commencement of scaffolding works at the iconic Freemasons’ Hall in London - the historic headquarters of United Grand Lodge of England and a prominent Grade II listed landmark.

We’re also delighted to be working alongside the exceptionally skilled team at Stone Edge Conservation on another of their prestigious heritage projects. Our team has begun erecting a fully engineered access and logistics solution to support essential façade works, including cathodic protection and specialist cleaning of the building envelope.

Given the building’s listed status, the scaffold design has been carefully engineered to respect and preserve the existing structure, with a clear emphasis on minimising physical intervention.

As Riki Spencer, Contracts Manager, explains:

“Scaffold is in the process of being erected for cathodic protection and cleaning of the building. The scaffold will have two gantries, one of which will facilitate the lifting of materials via a NIKO track from roof level. The scaffold design has been engineered to minimise ties into the building.”

This project reflects our continued focus on delivering precision-engineered scaffolding solutions within complex heritage environments, where access, logistics, and conservation must work in complete harmony.

We’re delighted to recognise Georgie as our Employee of the Month, following the successful completion of his scaffolding apprenticeship.

Georgie’s journey reflects exactly what strong training, commitment and the right attitude can achieve on site. Throughout his apprenticeship, he consistently applied himself, built his skillset and earned the trust of those around him. Now stepping forward as a qualified scaffolder, he’s already making a positive contribution to site operations and team performance.

Max brings over 14 years’ experience delivering complex temporary works and scaffolding design across landmark infrastructure and high-end commercial projects.

His expertise spans advanced structural analysis, value-engineered design, and full lifecycle delivery - from initial survey and tender support through to final inspection - ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient outcomes for our clients.

This appointment represents another significant step forward in strengthening our engineering capability, enabling us to further support the scale and complexity of projects entrusted to us.

It’s another clear reflection of our unwavering commitment to delivering quality as standard.

Recent clarification from the Building Safety Minister confirms a critical point for our industry:

➡️ 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘀 “𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸” 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀

This provides long-awaited clarity and a real opportunity for the industry to move forward with greater confidence.

However, this should not be misinterpreted.

While scaffolding sits outside the scope of building control oversight, it remains firmly governed by robust health & safety legislation, competent design, and rigorous industry standards. Inner City Scaffolding continues to recognise H&S as a core project deliverable, embedding a ‘quality as standard’ approach in every stage of planning and ex*****on.

At Inner City Scaffolding, we see this as a positive and necessary shift:

✅ Removing misapplied regulatory requirements
✅ Reinforcing proportionate, risk-based control measures
✅ Maintaining uncompromising standards in safe delivery and ex*****on

Just as importantly, this clarity has the potential to unlock projects earlier in the lifecycle - enabling developers and contractors to engage scaffolding solutions with greater certainty, flexibility, and improved programme alignment.
