We had a great day at DCD (Data Centre Dynamics) Connect conference yesterday, at London’s Business Design Centre.

Plenty of new faces to meet, plus a few familiar ones. And a fantastic opportunity to start some exciting conversations.

Plus, it’s always helpful to briefly step away from our day-to-day work and spend time digging a little deeper into the industries we serve.

We’ve recently completed a few data centre projects, so it was inspiring to hear from so many leaders in the industry; particularly about the engineering opportunities and challenges we can expect in the future.

We are delighted to be working with ROCMEP on the development of this next generation data centre in Buckinghamshire.

The facility will provide 500 square metres of co-location space for customers and 6000 kW of power and our BIM and MEP consultants are providing:

Good MEP design (right‑sized plant, heat recovery, zoning, smart controls) cuts consumption at source. Early MEP coordination (clash detection, integrated layouts, coordinated ceiling and riser zones, and staged commissioning) prevents on‑site compromises that undo those savings.

Small design choices made early will avoid unnecessary energy costs later.

For example...

📝Design: efficient HVAC selection; heat recovery; demand‑based ventilation; low‑loss distribution; integrated controls.

🧩Coordination: preserve sprinkler and diffuser clearances; avoid re‑routing that increases duct/pump losses; align control logic with smoke/ventilation strategies; plan plantroom access for optimal maintenance.

Don't leave fire safety considerations too late.🔥
