π§ Pinpoint First. Excavate Second
A customer in West Bromwich had been informed by their water supplier that there was a leak somewhere on the mains supply pipe but with no visible signs of water inside or outside the property, the location was unknown.
Thatβs where Wasim from Leak Detective Birmingham Central came in. The water meter confirmed continuous usage, so Wasim began investigating using specialist leak detection equipment.
Tracer gas was introduced into the supply, producing elevated readings externally near the stopcock. Acoustic testing was then used across the same area and picked up persistent noise consistent with a leak.
Two different methods. Both pointing to the same location. π―
π Leak narrowed down to the external stopcock area
π Tracer gas and acoustic testing used to pinpoint the likely location
π A targeted area identified for excavation and repair
In this case, the customer had the ability to carry out the excavation and repair themselves - they just needed Leak Detective to pinpoint exactly where the problem was.
Rather than unnecessarily excavating a large area looking for the leak, Wasim was able to give them a targeted location to work from.
Sometimes you donβt need us to carry out the excavation - you just need us to take away the guesswork and identify where to access the pipework. π
Great work from Wasim at Leak Detective Birmingham Central π
