Homeowners — before you hire any electrician, ask the questions.

Every week during EICRs we come across unsafe electrical work that’s been installed by someone who shouldn’t have been doing it in the first place.

No certification.
No insurance.
No qualifications.
No paperwork.
And the homeowner is left with the risk.

Before agreeing to any electrical work, ask to see:

• Their CPS or scheme registration number
• Proof of public liability insurance
• Their inspection & testing qualifications (2391 or equivalent)
• Whether they can issue the correct certification
• Whether the work needs notifying through Building Control
• Photos of previous work or genuine reviews

If they avoid the question, can’t provide proof, or “know a mate who can sign it off later”… walk away.

Electrical work is hidden once the job’s finished. You often don’t know there’s a problem until an EICR is carried out — or something fails.

The cheapest quote isn’t always the cheapest in the long run.

Ask the questions before the job starts — not after faults are found.

⚡ Another EV charger installation completed today ⚡

This one was a bit more involved than a standard install, with a long cable route taken up into the loft and through the property back to the consumer unit to achieve a neat, discreet finish with minimal visible cabling.

We also hardwired the internet connection directly to the charger using the Cat5e within the EV-Ultra cable, with one twisted pair utilised for the CT clamp connection — helping provide a stable, reliable connection for smart charging features and load management.
