As tradesman, we can see both sides of it.

Yes, there are cowboys out there who take deposits, do half a job and disappear and something needs to be done about that.

BUT…

I can already see certain customers taking the absolute p**s with a system like this.

What happens when a customer decides they’re “not happy” with something, refuses to release the next payment, and basically holds the tradesman’s money hostage?

We all know there are customers who will try to get extras, changes or remedial work done for free. Imagine giving them even more leverage over payment. 🤦🏼‍♂️

Most genuine tradespeople need deposits to order materials, secure dates and cover the costs of starting a job. We shouldn't be tarred with the same brush as the cowboys.

The question is… how do you protect the customer WITHOUT leaving the tradesman completely exposed?
