Nearly there at Wycombe Abbey Custodians Lodge.
We installed the Douglas fir glulam for Life Build back in the summer, finished with a light grey SiOO:X treatment. As well as the main glulam structure, we also manufactured the timber window fins – now all coming together as the building nears completion

Backstage at The Old Vic has also been shortlisted for a 2026 Wood Award! The six-storey extension uses a European spruce glulam frame, with Buckland Timber supplying and fabricating the glulam structure. It was a real collaborative effort, working alongside Haworth Tompkins Architects, Momentum Structural Engineers, Rise Contracts, The Old Vic and the wider project team.

A big thank you to everyone involved, and great to see the project recognised by the Wood Awards. Winners will be announced on 25 November!

What A. Night!

Three awards AND Winner of Winners! Safe to say we’re heading back to Devon from the Structural Timber Awards 2026 with quite a haul and plenty to smile about.

🏆 Manufacturer of the Year – Buckland Timber, in partnership with Tonkin Liu, Webb Yates and Simpson
🏆 Project of the Year – Heritage Quad, York Minster Centre of Excellence – Webb Yates, Tonkin Liu and Buckland Timber
🏆 Custom & Self Build Project of the Year – Float House – Engenuiti, Tigg Coll, Buckland Timber and Stella Rossa..And 🏆 Winner of Winners for the Heritage Quad, York Minster Centre of Excellence

There was more good news for another project we’ve been very pleased to be part of, with Antony Cockerell / ar18 Ltd, winning Client of the Year for the AR18 Eco Factory. Congratulations to Antony and the whole project team – Engenuiti, Fraser Architects, Hasslacher and Boxmoor.
And while they didn’t take home an award this time, we’re also incredibly proud to have seen Backstage at The Old Vicand the Serpentine Pavilion shortlisted amongst some of the best structural timber projects in the country.

A pretty incredible result for Buckland and, more importantly, for the teams of people behind each of these projects. A big thank you to everyone we’ve worked alongside – and to the Buckland team back in Devon who make all of this possible. And yes, there may have been a b**r or two to mark the occasion!

A little side quest...

Something exciting is taking shape in the woods – and it’s not glulam for a change! It’s still very much a work in progress, but we couldn’t resist sharing a sneak peek. More to come soon!

A smaller-scale project in Woking, Surrey.

This glulam car port is now up on site, with its angled posts and roof beams forming the main structure. A nice example of glulam being used on a relatively small project - will be good to see this one again once the roof is complete with solar panels.

UK-grown larch at the Serpentine Pavilion.

Designed by Marina Tabassum Architects, 'A Capsule in Time' features four curved timber forms creating a striking structure in Kensington Gardens. Buckland Timber worked on the engineering and manufacture of the timber structure, using fully demountable connections designed to give the Pavilion a life beyond its original setting.

Progress at Bothy Yard...

The glulam frame for the new glasshouse is taking shape, with the timber columns and beams now being installed on site. A good view here of the scale of the structure and the repeating glulam frames as they go into position. Next up will be the curtain walling and glazing.
