Fuseboard Upgrade – North Tawton ⚡

Another fuseboard upgrade completed in North Tawton last week.

The client needed the existing fuseboard moved higher to make room for a new fridge freezer. As the old board needed to be disconnected and moved anyway, they decided to take the opportunity to upgrade to a new board at the same time.

The new installation brings the consumer unit up to current requirements, with the cable entries also tidied up for a much cleaner finish.

✅ New fuseboard installed
✅ All circuits fully tested
✅ Installation certificate issued
✅ Much neater, safer finish

⚡ Electric Shower Fault – Another Job Made Safe

An existing client contacted us after their electric shower suddenly stopped working.

On investigation, we found a loose neutral connection within the shower pull-cord isolator, on a 40A circuit. The poor connection had caused the isolator to overheat and burn out.

The damaged isolator was removed and replaced with a new 45A pull-cord isolator. The installation was then fully tested and left in safe working order. ✅

A good reminder that loose electrical connections can cause overheating and serious damage — if you notice anything unusual with your electrical installation, get it checked by a qualified electrician.

Another extractor fan upgrade completed! 🌬️⚡

We were called out to investigate a non-working bathroom extractor fan.

After carrying out our inspection, we found the existing fan had reached the end of its life. Years of dust and debris had restricted the airflow, causing the motor to overheat and eventually burn out.

On our return visit, we removed the faulty unit and installed a new inline extractor fan. The new system is significantly quieter, more efficient, and will provide much better ventilation for the bathroom.

Some garden & BBQ area inspiration from a project we completed in Upton Hellions last week! 🔧⚡🍖

We extended an existing sub-main and installed a new IP-rated consumer unit, along with weatherproof sockets and switches, all tailored to our client's specification for their outdoor BBQ shelter.

The installation was completed using galvanised steel conduit with single-core cables, providing a durable, professional finish that's built to withstand the elements.

✨ Out with the old, in with the new! 💡

We've recently upgraded the lighting at The Village Hall, Bow, replacing the old fluorescent light panels with modern LED panels.

The new LEDs provide a much brighter, more welcoming space while being far more energy efficient, helping to reduce running costs and maintenance.

With replacement parts for fluorescent fittings becoming increasingly difficult to source—and many of the emergency lighting backup units on the old fittings no longer functioning reliably—it was the perfect time for a complete lighting upgrade.

If your business, village hall, school, or commercial premises are still using fluorescent lighting, now is a great time to make the switch to LED.

Another recent project completed in Okehampton!

For this bathroom refit we:
✔️ Installed an inline extractor fan with insulated flexible ducting for improved ventilation.
✔️ Replaced the existing light fitting with a client-supplied fitting.
✔️ Installed a new electrical feed for an illuminated bathroom mirror.

A great upgrade that improves both the functionality and finish of the space.

🔧 Something a little different from a recent job in Hatherleigh!

We disconnected and removed a 16-year-old failed spa pump motor before installing and reconnecting its brand-new replacement for a garden whirlpool spa/hot tub.

The difference in size and weight between the old and new pumps was immediately noticeable—they certainly don't make them like they used to!

⚡ Another consumer unit (fuseboard) upgrade completed in Okehampton last week! ⚡

This property had a very busy, overpopulated fuseboard with doubled-up circuits and untidy wiring, so it was time for an upgrade.

✅ Replaced with a larger consumer unit fitted with bi-directional RCBOs to ensure compatibility with the property's solar installation.
✅ The old fuseboard cover had become brittle and was difficult to refit due to the overcrowded wiring.
✅ Installed a Surge Protection Device (SPD) as standard for added protection.
✅ Full testing completed and an Electrical Installation Certificate issued for complete peace of mind.

A new consumer unit doesn't just improve the appearance of your electrical installation—it also enhances safety, reliability, and compliance with current regulations.
