Not every solar installation can be copied onto the next site. This one couldn't.

At CMP Products' Cramlington site, we completed a rooftop solar installation generating enough clean energy to power around 250 homes.

The solar installation used 1,518 solar panels and converts sunlight into usable electricity through 8 x Solis 110KW inverters.

CMP Products manufacture safety-critical connectivity solutions for hazardous industrial environments. Safety isn't a checkbox for them, it's the standard everything is measured against. So when they invested in solar, we engineered a system around how they operate, not a standard installation.

That meant:

- 8 rapid shutdown boxes, specified to instantly isolate every solar DC string on the roof in an emergency

- Bespoke switchgear and grid-compliance panels, engineered with G59 Projects specifically for this site

- Full grid liaison with Northern Powergrid to secure export approval at this scale

The result?

A solar installation that couldn't be installed onto any other site - because it was built for CMP Products, not adapted from a template.

Our Managing Director, Sean McIntyre, said on the project:

Major large-scale installation complete!

We're incredibly proud to share the results of our latest project for global manufacturing and engineering company, CMP Products.

We installed 1,518 solar panels covering a roof area roughly the size of a football pitch!

The decision by CMP Products to invest in the large-scale solar installation was driven by a combination of factors including their sustainability ambitions and commitment to operational resilience.

This installation didn’t just rely on off the shelf products, but in collaboration with industry leaders like G59 Projects Ltd, a bespoke solution was created.

We engineered the project to the highest safety and grid compliance standards, including eight rapid shutdown boxes. In an emergency, such as a fire alarm activation, they automatically isolate all solar DC strings on the roof, which is a critical safety feature for a site of this scale.
