On this project in Stratford-upon-Avon, we're upgrading the wall between an integral garage and the living space using Fireline plasterboard.

Why is this important?

✅ Provides up to 30 minutes of fire resistance, helping slow the spread of fire and giving occupants valuable extra time to escape.

✅ Helps meet the fire protection requirements typically expected where a garage adjoins a home.

But here's something many people overlook...

Installing the correct fire-rated board is only part of the job. Every gap around cables, pipework and board joints must also be sealed using the correct fire-rated products. On this project we've used B1 fire-rated expanding foam before finishing the joints, ensuring the entire system works as intended.

🚨 Garage Conversion Fail 🚨

This garage conversion in Stratford-upon-Avon is a perfect example of why insulation should never be an afterthought.

The homeowner called us after a previous builder had converted part of the garage into a wet room, but left the original garage door in place with no insulation whatsoever behind it.

The result?

🥶 An ice-cold room throughout the winter.
🥶 A space that was barely usable for months of the year.
🥶 Heat simply escaping through the old garage door and uninsulated walls.

The customer was understandably worried they'd have to rip everything out and start again. Thankfully, that wasn't necessary.

Because the wet room had been beautifully tiled from floor to ceiling, we came up with a solution that avoided any internal disruption.

✅ We insulated the existing garage door opening from the outside using high-performance PIR insulation.
✅ We rendered over the entire opening, completely hiding the old garage door and creating a seamless finish.
✅ We also insulated the partition wall between the remaining garage and the wet room, eliminating another major cold bridge.

The result is a much warmer, more energy-efficient space without destroying a perfectly good bathroom.

Another transformation completed. 👌

This project involved stripping away the old wallpaper, repairing and meshing the walls, infilling and venting the chimney breast, and finishing everything with a fresh skim to create a clean, modern surface ready for decorating.

It's always satisfying turning tired, dated walls into a smooth finish that gives the room a fresh start.
