Day 6 – Friday wrap up on the Grade II Listed Building 🏛️

We’re now up onto the second lift of scaffold and continuing to work our way through the repointing. Progress is steady, and the difference in the stonework is becoming more noticeable with each section completed.

Wrapping up for the week as rain is coming in now and so we have set ourselves up for a big push on Monday to keep the momentum going.

Consistency and attention to detail all the way through.

Day 5 – Part 2: repointing is now officially underway 🧱

After getting all the prep dialled in, it’s good to finally see fresh lime mortar going back into the joints and the building starting to come back to life. Slow, methodical work—but that’s what this kind of restoration demands.

End of day wrap up: it is what it is… running a bit behind, but the hours are going in to make sure it’s done properly. No shortcuts on a job like this.

Day 5: raking out has begun and all prep work is now complete 🏛️

This is where the real transformation starts. Removing the failed mortar properly is key to ensuring the new lime mortar can perform as it should—allowing the building to breathe and manage moisture correctly.

Now it’s time to start revitalising this property and get a breathable, sympathetic product back into the walls where it belongs.

Proper prep. Proper materials. Proper restoration.

Day 4: Scaffold is now up on site and giving us full access to tackle the next stages safely.

It’s also a good reminder of just how important it is to use the correct materials on listed buildings and solid wall properties. These structures are designed to breathe — introducing cement-based mortars only traps moisture, leading to long-term and sometimes irreversible damage.

We’re already seeing the effects: stone crumbling, spalling faces, and previous mortar not even properly raked out — poor practice that accelerates deterioration. That said, it’s made our job a bit easier getting rid of the failed work and putting it right with lime.

Doing it properly now means this building will perform as it should for decades to come.

Phase 2 of 3 complete on this Grade II Listed Sandstone Restoration Project ✅

A big milestone reached, with repointing well progressed using traditional lime mortar to protect and preserve the building’s integrity and colour blends beautifully to suit the clients preference. The difference already is clear to see.

Next up — we move onto the gable and remaining section to carry this restoration through to the final stage.

Steady progress, done the right way.

Something a bit different today — tripod’s out and we’re capturing the process properly 📸

From prepping joints to applying lime mortar, it’s all about the detail on a job like this. Being able to step back (literally) and document the work gives a whole new perspective on how much precision goes into every section.

Stay tuned — we’ll be sharing more of the restoration as it progresses.
