Now THIS is a tough choice.

I don't often go out of my way to buy biscuits so they're out (Although I love the foxes half coated cookies)

I think crisps are the winner here.

Why are some parcel delivery services an absolute nightmare?

8:04am: Your parcel is out for delivery.
9:12am: Your driver has 47 stops before you.
11:33am: Your driver has 46 stops before you.
2:18pm: Your driver is nearby.
2:19pm: Your driver is in another county.

Then suddenly:
“Sorry we missed you.”

Missed me?

I have been staring out of the window like a retired neighbourhood watch captain since breakfast.

And somehow when they do deliver the package the photo proof is always a blurry picture of a doormat that looks vaguely familiar, but also possibly belongs to a cottage in Wales.

What’s the strangest place a parcel has been left for you? 😂

Keith thought changing a few sockets and lights would be a quick Sunday job.

An hour later...

⚡ The lounge light switch turns off the kitchen lights
⚡ New hairstyle
⚡ Missing eyebrows
⚡ Tea gone cold
⚡ Regretting every life choice

Sound familiar? 😅

The thing is, a lot of electrical problems don't look serious at first.

A socket that feels warm.

Sockets that only work when the plugs in at a specific angle

Most homeowners put up with them for months. Sometimes years.

But small electrical faults rarely fix themselves. They usually get worse over time.

That's why it's always worth getting unusual electrical issues checked by a qualified electrician or better yet, actually having a full electrical inspection carried out! 👍

And hopefully... no ending up like 2 Teeth Keith. 😂

👇 Have you ever seen or heard about a DIY disaster (even if not electrical)?

What was it?

(Extra points if nobody lost their eyebrows! 😆) ⚡🏠

We've just received a new 5 ⭐️ review! Check it out below 👇

Haydon completed the work to a great standard, and most importantly, took the time to explain what he was doing, what the implications were etc. He was also really respectful of my home. Would recommend to anyone and will be using him as first choice going forwards

Haydon came round to have a look at the wiring for my kitchen lights which I have a problem with. He examined the wiring and confirmed all ok. Suggested using better quality bulbs and if that doesn’t help he will install new light fittings. Found advice helpful and would recommend him to anyone needing electrical work done.

Condensation on the windows every morning?
Black mould appearing around corners or behind furniture? 🏠

There are ways of tackling this and ventilation is key. Opening windows across your home can help take old stale air out and bring new fresh air in.

This is true for many homes in Bath and Corsham (and the entire UK)

Everyday things like showers, cooking and drying clothes indoors all add moisture into the air.

And once that moisture builds up, condensation and mould can quickly follow.

One solution many homeowners haven’t heard of is a PIV unit.

PIV stands for Positive Input Ventilation.

It works by gently introducing fresh filtered air into the home to improve airflow and help push out stale damp air.

When installed correctly, they can make a noticeable difference in homes struggling with condensation issues.⚡

I had a job recently to replace a double socket because one side of it stopped working 🔌

Visually it looked fine.

No burning, no corrosion or any obvious signs anything was wrong 👀

But one side had completely failed.

I think this acts as a good reminder that not all electrical accessories are made to the same standard.

For homeowners, a socket is a socket. But behind the faceplate, the quality of components can vary massively ⚡

In this instance it was a decorative socket with a 1-year manufacturer warranty.

The decorative range I typically use comes with a 10-year warranty, and the standard white plastic versions have a massive 25-year manufacturer warranty 👍

If you're thinking about replacing all the sockets and switches in your home with decorative variants and you're attracted to the cheaper brands, I'd think about how much this could cost long term if you had to get an electrician back to replace one or more 💷

Have you ever had an electrical accessory fail much sooner than expected?

💡 "I can't install this light"

That’s something I say often when installing new lights on old wiring.

In many homes around Corsham and Wiltshire, older lighting circuits may not have an earth wire in the cable which means no earth connection at the light fitting.

Sometimes this only becomes noticeable when replacing old light fittings with newer metal ones.

Some modern fittings are "Class 2 insulated", which means they’re designed to operate safely without an earth connection. Others are not.

That’s why it’s important not to assume every light fitting is suitable for every property.

A good quality electrician will make sure your new lights are being installed correctly.⚡

Have you ever changed a light fitting and discovered unexpected older wiring?
