Our climate is changing and we can take a chance when knowledge and understanding risk is balanced with historical pruning guidance and formal training & experience.

These lavenders were, quite simply, awful. They were so woody and overgrown through years of neglect. We talked it through with our lovely client… we can either take a chance to rejuvenate by hard pruning against all advice or rip them out and start again.

We convinced our client to let us try and see if we could turn the lavenders into something beautiful again. We took a calculated chance we would have a mild winter and went for it and we are so glad we did!

Happy Summer Solstice! It’s hard to believe we are at the longest day of the year already and what a day/week it is forecast to be. The evening light is at its longest and from here the light will lessen slightly everyday leading us into Autumn…. our favourite time of year. For now it’s all about watering and feeding plants and making sure our wildlife of all sizes have access to water at all times, including ourselves. Staying hydrated and cool is the priority this week in every respect 🌞

Such a treat this evening! I sat down to watch the sun settle down into the horizon and realised I was a few feet away from this gorgeous deer. She didn’t seem to mind me watching her munch the apples we had thrown over our garden wall and then suddenly I realised we were not alone…… simply magical. 💕

Now is the time to act…. To all our clients and followers, and particularly those who we have recently created new gardens; added plants or planted new trees; hedges or borders within the past few months it is imperative that you water your garden particularly trees and hedging and shrubs etc as they are really vulnerable with a heat wave pending as the root systems are not established. Now is the time to do it before the heatwave hits as it’s too late. The plants need to absorb the water before the heat heats so early morning or evening are your best chance to help your plants survive this exceptional weather 🥵

A lovely morning spent at the beautiful Amanda and Phil Honey introducing a dear friend to the absolute delight that this garden offers. It has everything…. A kitchen garden; a meadow; a rill that is the best there is; a long border; an orchard and everything is grown with nature and ecology in mind. It is quite simply, exquisite. So blessed to have visited twice in the past few weeks however what a difference those few weeks have made in terms of flowers blooming and the changes in the Kitchen garden have been phenomenal. If you want to see a garden that has it all, this is it. It’s simply beautiful. 💕

Just a little job today digging some holes you could lose a spade in and lifting out old grass filled with nettles and brambles. Putting up some large bamboo screening and adding new turf to refresh the grass areas. We love working in this garden as although it’s a sun trap and we all sizzled (with factor 30 on) we always have home made cakes and ice lollies to keep us cool. 🙏💕
