Going electric could make a huge difference to what you spend on everyday journeys.

Compare the average cost of filling a full tank of petrol with the cost of enough electricity to drive the same distance in an EV, and the potential savings really add up.

EVs can be up to 9× cheaper to drive, with EV owners potentially saving around £80 for the equivalent of a full tank of petrol.

From tomorrow, 1 October, the Energy Price Cap is increasing, with the typical household figure rising by around 3.6%. With household energy costs remaining high, making better use of the energy you already generate matters.

If you have solar PV, Solar iBoost+ helps you use suitable surplus solar electricity at home by automatically diverting it to your immersion heater to heat your water.

Already have solar PV? Discover how Solar iBoost+ can help you make more of your energy at marlec.co.uk

Remote technology is becoming more capable while using less energy.

CCTV cameras, water quality sensors, flood warning equipment, weather stations, and communication systems can now collect valuable data from locations without mains electricity access.
A properly designed off-grid power system can combine solar panels, a Rutland Windcharger and battery storage to provide dependable power where it is needed.

“The power supply no longer has to dictate the location. The technology can go where it is needed.”
Stuart James, Sales Director at Marlec Engineering

48 Years of Marlec

In the 1970s, the plan was simple: use wind power to electrify farm fences. But that small idea soon travelled much further.

Rutland Windchargers began powering boats and went on to enable remarkable expeditions, including the pioneering Row to the Pole adventure. From humble beginnings on a farm in Rutland, Marlec has grown into one of the world’s leading small wind turbine manufacturers, with more than 120,000 Rutland Windchargers sold worldwide.

Since 1978, we have continued to work ahead of our time, developing renewable energy solutions that keep equipment running in some of the most remote places on Earth. Our journey has taken us from Rutland to global recognition, including receiving the Queen’s Award for Export Achievement.

Thank you to every employee, customer, distributor and partner who has helped shape our history. Here’s to 48 years of British manufacturing, renewable innovation and reliable power. 🎂

A great result from Solar iBoost.

By using over 1,500kWh of excess solar energy to heat their hot water, this customer could have avoided around £375 in electricity costs, based on an electricity rate of 25p/kWh.

Instead of sending excess solar energy back to the grid, Solar iBoost puts it to good use in the home.

We can make you feel safer, here is how.

Have you ever thought that the light above you while waiting for a bus at night could be powered by sunlight collected hours, or even days, earlier?

Our Solar Shelter Illumination Kit makes this possible, completely off-grid. Designed for simple installation, the system can be fitted without the extensive cabling and groundworks needed for a mains connection.

Reliable lighting helps create a brighter, safer, and more welcoming place for passengers at night, while renewable energy quietly works behind the scenes.

Involved in a public transport or infrastructure project? Talk to our team. We can help you explore this and other renewable solutions for locations where reliable power is needed.
