Another couple of jobs I’ve completed recently! ✅

🪟 Window Repair: Attended a property where the window hinges had broken. And there were gaps in the corners between the window and frame. I replaced the hinges and got the window working properly again!

🚪 Door Repair: The customer’s door mechanism had seized, leaving the door stuck shut. I gained access, replaced the faulty gearbox, and got the door working perfectly again!

No need to replace the whole door when a repair can get it back to working like new! 👌

Another Window Repair Completed by FG Locksmith 🔧

I was called out to a customer who was having trouble with their window after another repair had been attempted.

Unfortunately, the hinges had been fitted incorrectly, which had left the window sitting and operating incorrectly and actually made the original problem worse.

I stripped it back, corrected the positioning, replaced the hinges and fitted everything properly so the window is now operating as it should. ✅

It’s always important that window repairs are carried out correctly, as incorrect fitting can cause further problems and potentially damage other parts of the window.

🔧 Another Window Fixed! 🪟

A customer recently contacted me because their window was completely stuck and wouldn’t open. The culprit was a seized espag mechanism, which had locked everything up.

After carefully getting the window open without causing any damage, I replaced the faulty espag with a brand-new one and got the window opening and locking smoothly again. ✅

HOT WEATHER LOCK & DOOR TIPS 🔥

With the temperatures soaring, you may notice your doors and windows aren’t quite working as they should!

The heat can cause uPVC, composite, and wooden doors to expand, which may lead to:

🔑 Doors becoming difficult to lock or unlock
🚪 Doors catching or sticking when opening and closing
🪟 Windows becoming harder to operate
⚠️ Locks feeling stiff or misaligned

A few simple tips during the hot weather:

✅ Keep locks clean and lightly lubricated with a suitable lock lubricant.
✅ Check that doors are fully closed before locking to prevent unnecessary force on the mechanism.
✅ If a key becomes difficult to turn, don’t force it – this can lead to a snapped key or lock failure.
✅ Try and cool the doors and windows down with freezing cold water

If your door or window is becoming difficult to use, don’t wait until you’re locked out! A simple adjustment can often prevent a bigger (and more expensive) problem later on.

FG Locksmith is here to help with door adjustments, lock repairs, window locks, and emergency lockouts.
