Could’ve Been a Quick Pump Swap… But That Plumbing Had to Go 🔥

This could’ve been a simple drop-in pump replacement using the existing unions—but the equipment pad deserved better.

We removed the old WhisperFlo, cleaned up the plumbing, added proper straight pipe into the pump, and installed a Jandy FloPro 2.7 HP with the SpeedSet controller.

Code compliance/ The exposed PVC was also cleaned, prepped, and spray-painted—not just for looks. PVC installed outdoors needs protection from prolonged sunlight and UV exposure, and painting it helps satisfy that protection requirement while also giving the equipment pad a cleaner, more professional finish. I masked the labels so the pipe markings remain visible for future identification.

The result: a full pump basket, smooth flow, no visible air, and a much cleaner installation.

Could I have finished faster? Absolutely. Would it have looked like this? Absolutely not. 😂

Job took a little turn, but nothing we couldn’t handle. I take pride in delivering the best work I can “No shortcuts”. Swapped out the swimming pool pump, filter, valves and actuator. Making sure everything runs clean and smooth this season. Crazy to think a few yrs ago I never would’ve said this, but aquastarpoolproducts is seriously stepping up making big moves in the industry. Solid products real progress. 🙌

Client insisted on a 3HP pump, even after the warnings. What looks like 2” PVC above ground is hiding 1.5” copper below a major bottleneck. That kind of mismatch causes cavitation, eats up energy, and shortens pump life.

Here’s the kicker! a properly sized 1.5HP pump would’ve given better flow with less energy. But hey! We still did clean solid work. Even while redoing plumbing every time the client finished a new life story 😂

✅ Warnings were given.
🔥 Cavitation is coming.
💯 Work still speaks for itself.

Pool pump error? Here’s how I diagnose whether it’s a bad motor or drive,plus why I’m keeping this legendary variable speed pump alive. This 4HP motor with a 3HP impeller is built like a tank and currently 10 yrs old, and even though it’s no longer in production it’s worth every bit of effort to repair. I replaced the motor and seal plate along with all the seals.

Basic? Maybe. But this apartment complex pool still gets the pro treatment. Old pump was toast, so we dropped in a Jandy FloPro VS 3.8 THP. Reaming PVC? Last resort only. Bonding the equipment? Non-negotiable. And yes! painting that PVC isn’t just for looks, it’s code. Next up: swapping that old sand filter for another Jandy. No shortcuts, no guesswork just proper commercial work.

Most heaters add restriction and can shorten their own life if flow isn’t managed right. That’s where a bypass comes in, it diverts water around the heater when it’s off for better flow and turnover, and sends the right amount through when it’s on to hit spec and protect the exchanger. Make no mistake even when the heater isn’t running, we still allow a little flow inside to prevent stagnant water, corrosion, and damage. Done right, you get more efficiency, performance, and a longer lasting heater. And with the Raypak AVIA, you get smart controls and automation features that make this setup even better. This isn’t DIY leave it to the pros.

Installed a handrail for a couple needing extra stability and put Milwaukee’s switch tank to the test. Core drill no chords or hoses needed,battery barely dropped one bar. A little off on the measurements should’ve listened to gramps, but the clients can now enjoy their spa with some confidence. milwaukeetool
