They're back! And this time, they're here to stay.

Some of you will remember the distinctive red handwheels from our classic BIX gas conversion kits. They became something of a BIX signature — and, as we've discovered, quite a few of you missed them when they disappeared.

We've listened.

We've invested in modifying our injection moulding tooling so we can once again produce the distinctive BIX red handwheel, made specifically for our gas conversion kits.

And these aren't an off-the-shelf component — the BIX red handwheel is unique to us, just like the rest of our products.

They'll now be making their return across our latest gas conversion kits, including the BIX 011 Wilesco Tractor & Roller Gas Conversion Kit pictured.

It's a small part, but it's one of those little details that makes a BIX kit instantly recognisable.

Our BIX 029 Automatic Gas Boiler Pressure Regulator has been put through its paces, and the verdict is impressive.

In the August 2026 issue, Richard Simpson described gas control as “the best bang for your buck” when it comes to improving a model steam plant, and found that our attenuator valve “follows engine demand perfectly” helping prevent the safety valve lifting while still delivering performance when you need it.
