Rosa ‘Roald Dahl’ one of my favourite roses, scented, repeat flowering from May until almost December. Today I combined them with Bronze Fennel, Crocosmia, hypericum and asparagus foliage - all self seeding gate crashers so great to pick in abundance for vases.

This is a garden I designed and we planted almost 3 years ago. The client was inspired by the Beth Chatto gravel garden and to date we have only watered in the new plants and then left it to do its thing! It is right on the sea front and gets quite battered by the wind but inspite or maybe because of this it is lovely and wild and gives the family a lot of pleasure all year round.

Last week I visited the Lost Gardens of Heligan for the first time. It was beautiful and wild and felt like it had been there forever. I loved the jungle section - the photos don’t do it justice.
