Tough day yesterday at the current project in Bovey Tracey. A few tons of concrete needed breaking down to be backfill for a raised patio. Thankfully this machine was up to the task though the concrete needed to be hand fed into the machine. 😴

Another small job completed recently, this time giving a tired front garden a bit of a makeover.

The customer had struggled with a poor lawn and wanted to make the front of the property more interesting, while also making it much easier to look after.

The grass was removed and replaced with decorative gravel, new planting and stepping stones, with London Stone Yellow Antique Limestone used for the pathways and the curved area leading to the front door.

It's a really lovely limestone with lots of natural variation running through it. The mix of warm yellows, buffs and occasional darker tones means no two slabs are quite the same, and I think it works particularly well with the colours of the house.

A fairly simple change, but it's made a big difference to the front of the property and there's now plenty of interest without having a lawn to constantly look after.

The customer was really happy with how it turned out and was an absolute pleasure to work for.

Following on from my recent round-up of smaller projects, here's another one completed in Bovey Tracey.

The customers had inherited a tired, dilapidated shed that had become an unused corner of the garden. They wanted to replace it with a new shed, but first the area needed a complete overhaul.

They chose Bradstone Mahina paving paired with Bradstone sandstone setts, a combination that works brilliantly together and creates a warm, inviting space. It's now the perfect spot to sit back and enjoy the evening sun after an afternoon spent gardening.

It's summer again, which means it's the busiest time of year for me. Keeping Facebook up to date has unfortunately taken a bit of a back seat, but I thought I'd share one of a couple of smaller jobs I've completed this year.

This customer had recently moved into a lovely property in Ashburton with a beautiful garden. The old metal arbour had seen better days and needed replacing. The garden was also quite exposed to passing traffic, so the customer wanted a bit more privacy. To achieve that, I built a new fence and gate.

Rather than fitting a standard off-the-shelf trellis, I suggested making one by hand from better-quality timber. It looks much nicer, is far sturdier, and will give the climbing plants plenty of support as they grow.

The driveway entrance was also a bit tight for modern cars, so I widened the opening and fitted a new 5-bar gate. Rather than throwing away the original granite gate post, it was reused as a plant stand at the entrance to the garden.

It was a really enjoyable project for a lovely customer, and I'm looking forward to going back to help with the next phase of the garden.

Here's a job done for repeat customers who have settled in Topsham.
Their new garden was in a bit of a state which had an odd area that was of no use to them and they asked if a water feature could be installed.
After a couple of conversations we put together a plan which consisted of cleaning the mint sandstone patio and replacing the failed grout with Flowpoint premium in the colour Lime. Adding trellis along the fences for plants to climb plus a garden archi for a new bench to go under.
Then a raised garden planter with a gentle flowing water feature sourced from a local garden centre was built with concrete blocks and faced with mint sandstone walling stone using lime mortar.
The customers were over the moon with the final result and it was a pleasure working for them again. 😊
