We’re delighted to have secured a new roofing project with Westshield at the Bloom Street 83 Serviced Apartments development in Manchester.

As part of the residential conversion, we will be installing Danosa roofing systems across six roof areas, covering approximately 532m² in total.

The specified system includes Danosa Danopol+ HS 1.5mm Anthracite, Danosa Foil-Fix PIR insulation and a Danosa Polyethylene AVCL, with the completed waterproofing system backed by a 20-year Danosa Material Warranty.

The development will see two Grade II-listed former warehouses, Mindel House and 11 Bloom Street, brought back into use as serviced apartments, helping to retain the character of these historic Manchester buildings.

Why should you create falls for your flat roof?

Flat roofs are not designed to be 100% flat, instead, flat roofs must be designed on a very slight gradient, to transport water away from the roof as quickly as possible. A gradual slope is the best way to achieve this, as rainwater naturally follows gravity.

But how are these slopes created?

They can be created through a few of different options, including:

• Tapered Insulation
• Sloping decks
• Firrings

There are many advantages for making sure that your flat roof has a slight gradient, these include:

• Effective drainage
• Prevention of ponding
• Adheres to roofing standards

With the anticipated release of their upcoming reality TV show ‘The Real Rooneys’ and the media surrounding their £20 million mega mansion, we have taken a look back at our involvement in the development.

With the installation of single ply membrane to both orangeries and the mansard roof of the main house, this was a fantastic project to be involved with, notwithstanding the publicity surrounding the build, it presented the opportunity for Enviroply to showcase our expertise and quality flat roofing installation on a development that years after, still attracts media and public attention today.
