We are going to use this area to display rare and one off items.
These range from local collectables to things you will not see often.

Busy Sunday ahead, but we are about to have a bit of time off from our day jobs.
A day here and there to catch up with the jobs that don’t get done.
But before that we are picking up a few items today.
We have a few things planned for the 4th quarter of 2026, just need to extend the days from 24hrs to 30hrs and implement an 8 day working week.
Sleep is over rated anyway…
Will add some pictures of our pickups during the week.

Just to let everyone know that “Billy” has now gone to a new home.
We were his custodian’s for a number of years.
The “Wrong Turn” style head has also sold.
I have a few items to replace Billy, but he will be missed.
Cambrian House Emporium will not be the same without him.

We have featured this book before, but it’s now heading into Cambrian House Emporium next weekend. This is part of the collection.
Yes it’s just a book.
But, look at the wear mark on the front cover.
That is someone’s thumb, now the question is whose thumb.
So we can only go on the name, anyone could have written that…
The last picture is a known diary of the gentleman and the writing is very similar in style.
Now, who is he….?

Frederick Edward Sotheby was the only son of Rear-Admiral Charles Sotheby, of Sewardstone, Essex, and was born in 1837. He entered the R***e Brigade on 18 January 1855, and became Lieutenant on 11 May the same year. He served with the R***e Brigade in the Crimea from 11 August 1855, including the siege and fall of Sebastopol and storming of the Redan on 8 September (Medal with Clasp and Turkish Medal). He served with the 2nd Battalion throughout the whole of its service in the suppression of the Indian mutiny, including the capture of Lucknow and numerous affairs during the Oude campaign (Medal with Clasp). He served throughout the campaign of 1860 in China, terminating with the surrender of Pekin (Medal with two Clasps), and was promoted to Captain on 21 September 1860.

Promoted Brevet Major in May 1873, Sotheby embarked for the Gold Coast with the 2nd Battalion R***e Brigade, and served throughout the second phase of the Ashantee war, in 1874, including the battle of Amoaful, battle of Ordahsu and capture of Coomassie (Brevet of Lieutenant-Colonel, Medal with Clasp). Sotheby was confirmed as Major in the R***e Brigade on 31 January 1877, as Lieutenant-Colonel on 1 July 1881, and Brevet Colonel the same day. On 9 August 1882 he went on half-pay, and retired with the honorary rank of Major-General on 9 August 1887. In July 1888, he was appointed to command the Birmingham Volunteer Infantry Brigade. Major-General Sotheby died at his residence, Ecton, Northamptonshire, on 7 February 1909, aged 72.

Today has a Toy Fair on the Showground.
Organised by Dave Jackson, this is a regular event.
It’s well worth a visit, don’t forget Cambrian House Emporium has a number of dealers selling retro and vintage toys.

Great start to the weekend, I have left my wallet in a car that Black Sheep and The Dragon has driven off in for the weekend. 🙈
A collection of a few items on Sunday morning, will post pictures during the week.
We are now listening to cheesy 80’s tunes while tidying the table so I can get a few things sorted.

Cambrian House Emporium is open 10am till 5pm Saturday and 10am till 4pm on Sunday.
