If you smell gas or suspect carbon monoxide, please take it seriously — your safety always comes first.

If it is safe to do so, turn off your gas supply at the meter, open doors and windows, leave the property and call the National Gas Emergency Service from outside on 0800 111 999.

Do not use electrical switches, light matches or smoke near the property.

These before-and-after photos show the inside of the main heat exchanger on a Potterton Promax Ultra Combi following a full strip-down boiler service.

This part of the boiler is normally hidden from view, but as you can see, dirt and combustion deposits can build up over time. Once thoroughly cleaned, the difference is clear!

🔥Gas safety – some repairs really are best left to the professionals 🔧
A recent LPG job for SGS Heating & Plumbing after somebody had previously attempted a DIY repair on this Clesse changeover valve.
The changeover valve was replaced correctly, followed by thorough testing of the LPG installation and gas pipework to make sure everything was safe and sound before being put back into use. ✅
When working with LPG, a repair that looks okay isn’t enough. The system needs to be installed correctly and properly tested by a competent Gas Safe registered engineer.
These photos show the testing process following the replacement — because when it comes to gas, safety always comes first.
⚠️ Smell gas or think something isn’t right? Don’t attempt a DIY repair. Turn off the supply where safe to do so and seek professional advice.
