Here’s a perfect example from our latest project at a stunning £1.3 million luxury Airbnb! 🔥

Mica flakes are slightly different from traditional decorative flakes. During installation, some of the flakes naturally stand on edge, meaning they can protrude through the first clear top coat.

And this is exactly why the second coat is so important!

Once the first top coat has cured, we return the following day to thoroughly sand the surface, removing any raised flakes and imperfections before applying our second clear top coat.

Another double garage transformation underway! 💪

This garage has recently been extended, leaving us with two different substrates and a heavily tamped concrete surface.

Rather than attempting to grind the floor smooth, we opted for a more thorough preparation process, using different primers to suit each substrate.

We then installed a 10–15mm layer of fibre-reinforced self-levelling compound, creating a strong, smooth and level surface ready for our epoxy resin flake system later this week! 🔥

Preparation is everything when it comes to a long-lasting resin floor!

✨ SILVER MICA — NOT FOR THE FAINT-HEARTED ✨

This one is going to be seriously special.

Starting with a silver pigmented moisture vapour barrier, followed by a full distribution of our Silver Mica Flake to create that bold, premium finish.

Then it’s onto the next stage — sand, deep clean and the first top coat going down to start bringing the whole system to life.

This isn’t your standard flake floor. The mica catches the light from every angle and gives the floor a completely different level of depth and character.

THE PERFECT FLOOR STARTS WITH THE PREP 👊

Quick turnaround on this one today.

Existing flooring removed, substrate prepped and now the self-levelling compound is going down to give us the smooth, solid base we need before installing the premium silver mica flake system.

It might be one of the quickest stages to watch but getting this part right is what makes the difference to the finished floor.

Next up ➡️ base coat, silver mica flake and a hard-wearing polyaspartic finish. 🔥

STAGE 1 | RIP OUT • PREP • PRIME • SELF-LEVEL 🔨

Starting a big transformation today inside this £1.3 million property, which is being prepared for use as a high-end Airbnb.

With the amount of traffic this floor is going to see, it needs to look premium but perform even better.

We’re installing a Silver Mica Flake System giving the property a high-end finish while delivering serious wear resistance, chemical resistance and long-term durability.

Today was all about getting the foundations right:

🔨 Full removal of the existing flooring
⚙️ Mechanical preparation
💧 DPM primer
📐 Fibre-reinforced self-levelling compound

This one definitely made us work for it. 😂

Ciaran reckoned the flooring would take us all day to rip out. I said we’d have it up by 12…

11AM. Done. 🤝😂

Tomorrow we’re back in for the base coat and Silver Mica flake broadcast, before building up the protective finish.

The preparation is where these floors are won or lost. 👊
