⚡ Specialist Electrical Installation | School Project – Hoxton, London

Another stage of our commercial electrical installation works at a school in Hoxton.

Alongside the installation of galvanised steel cable tray containment, supported using Unistrut and threaded rod, we’ve also been asked to provide lighting and electrical installations for a new children’s sensory room.

This project requires particular attention to the electrical specification, including:

✅ Socket outlet mounting heights and accessibility
✅ Suitable lighting for a sensory environment
✅ Careful positioning of electrical accessories
✅ Appropriate lighting controls and switching
✅ Safe, practical installation for the children’s needs

⚠️ MELTED PLUG. NO EARTH. STILL IN USE.

This is exactly why electrical inspections matter.

During an EICR at commercial premises in East Ham, East London, last week, we discovered:

🔥 A water heater plugged into a socket with severe heat damage, leaving live parts exposed.

⚡ Socket outlets with no effective earthing, including outlets being used by staff close to a sink.

🚨 A serious risk of electric shock and fire.

Both issues were dealt with immediately. The damaged water heater connection was disconnected and made safe, and the affected socket circuits were isolated during the inspection.

The worrying part? These installations were being used before we arrived.

A socket working doesn’t mean it’s safe.
