This SEAT Ibiza 1.2 TSi FR came into Spencer Bros Tyres Ltd today suffering from limp mode, with a noticeable lack of power.

After carrying out a full diagnostic check, we quickly identified the fault as a failed turbo actuator. We replaced the faulty actuator, cleared the fault codes, and carried out final checks to ensure everything was working as it should.

One of our treasured customers, Sarah, contacted us early this morning after discovering a serious issue with her son’s Ford Fiesta. The rear suspension had completely collapsed, leaving the car unsafe to drive. She asked if there was any way we could help at such short notice.

🚐🔧 Another happy customer at Spencer Bros Tyres Ltd! 🔧🚐

Today we had this Vauxhall Combo in the workshop for a full service and diagnostics after the owner reported excessive smoke from the exhaust and a warning light on the dashboard.

After carrying out our diagnostics, we traced the fault to cylinders 1 & 2, where the glow plugs had failed. It’s a repair that can make many garages nervous due to the risk of the glow plugs seizing or snapping during removal, but thanks to our experience and careful approach, we got the job done successfully without any issues.

While it was with us, we also completed its full service, and we’re pleased to say this Vauxhall Combo is now running like a dream! 💪

🔧 Another tricky oil leak diagnosed and repaired! 🔧

This Citroën C4 Picasso came into us with a persistent oil leak that had proved difficult to diagnose elsewhere.

Rather than guessing, we went back to basics. We thoroughly cleaned the engine and underside of the vehicle, removing all traces of old oil residue, then let time do its job until fresh oil revealed exactly where the leak was coming from.

We could see oil appearing around the oil cooler area, so it was time to strip it down. That meant removing the top of the engine and the DPF to gain full access to the oil cooler housing.

Once removed, we found the culprit – a split oil cooler gasket.

✅ New gaskets fitted
✅ Reassembly well underway
✅ Another fault properly diagnosed instead of replacing parts unnecessarily

🚗 Another happy customer back on the road! 🔧

Today we had this BMW 1 Series 116i come into the workshop with a severe misfire on cylinder 4. The fault was so bad that the engine was cutting out completely.

After carrying out a full diagnostic inspection, we found the car hadn’t been serviced since 2016. It was running with virtually no engine oil, was low on coolant, and the spark plugs were heavily worn, causing multiple cylinder misfires.

After further testing, we traced the main fault to a failed ignition coil pack on cylinder 4.

✅ Full service completed
✅ Fresh engine oil and all correct fluids
✅ New quality NGK spark plugs
✅ New NGK ignition coil pack
✅ Faults cleared and tested

The result? This BMW is now running smoothly and is back to its former glory, ready to be enjoyed once again! 👌

🚗 Another happy customer back on the road! 🔧

Today we had a Peugeot 2008 in the workshop with a few issues that needed attention.

After carrying out a full inspection, we found:
✅ Starting issue caused by a faulty camshaft sensor – replaced with a new sensor, resolving the problem.
✅ Full service completed with fresh engine oil, oil filter and air filter.
✅ During the service, we also discovered the airbox breather pipe was broken. We replaced the airbox with a quality used unit, fixing the damaged breather pipe.
✅ Knocking from the nearside front suspension was traced to a worn track rod end with excessive play – replaced with a new part.
✅ Excessive engine movement was caused by a badly worn gearbox mount – replaced, restoring the engine to its proper position.

The Peugeot is now back to a safe, reliable working condition and ready for the road. 👌
